... after I went to S&T.;    Problem is there is too much draw ... is there a rule of thumb swing flaw that typically results in too much draw ?    It's beyond draw, I guess you'd call it a hook.      I have an athletic swing & hit the ball fairly well.     Driver is good for me at this stage of my game - typically around 250-260 with a nice little draw, but irons seem to hook off line & often out of bounds.     Sorry, don't have any way to post a video, but just wondering if there's anything textbook that I should look for in my swing that may cause excessive draw ... thx !

Oh, yeah, tell me...

The club face is too closed at impact (swing path should be in to out on a push draw). Check you impact position - the hands should be in front of the club head - if not, try to avoid "flipping the hands" to make the ball go faster.

The other thing would be the hip slide towards the target. If you stop too early, you close the club face faster.

You can read up on it under "rate of closure" (in the S&T; literature or watch the DVDs).

Without video or pictures it is really hard to say what goes wrong...

perhaps your spine angle may be leaning away from target, allowing your hands to release sooner, thus the hook/draw. where's the ball position? are you keeping your 'lag' through the swing? if you're releasing or turning over your hands too early ('flipping' at times?) it could be a direct relation to your hook/draw as well...

Where does it start? Right of the target, straight, left? Are your arms maintaining their pressure points in the follow-through or are they leaving your chest/rib cage?

Video would really help, of course. I can't be sure you're doing a lot of the components correctly, but if you are, it's likely to be clubface (question 1) or that you send the path too far right (question 2).

Those aren't the same problems. Your path is too far left. Let's stick to this thread's topic, please.

Could it be grip, if you go from an over the top swing keeping the clubface open to protect from the pull hook left, to hit that pull fade, you usually have a strong grip and hold off the finish protecting againts the hook. If you switch to an inside swing path, were your not holding off, you no might have to strong of a grip.
