I don't know if it rains much where you live but here in Los Angeles we might only get a couple of really hard days per season. This is a great opportunity to dust off the rain gear and see if I can play with pants over my pants and a noisy jacket over my sweater.  For me, who is accustomed to wearing shorts and a shirt, the many layers make it tough.  Then there are the wet gloves which are amazing, if your used to wearing two gloves.  I think the last time I topped a ball was the first time I wore those things.  Don't feel bad, playing in the rain is not easy - it can cause some seriously errant shots.

To the OP, you are just gonna have some of those days where the swing leaves you...  Sometimes I find it to be beneficial to take a couple days (even a week) off when that happens to me.  It kind of helps me to forget exactly what I was doing wrong and when I go back to the range I'm ok again.  What has worked for me lately is to have just one single swing thought for every swing... it helps to keep me focused instead of letting my mind run wild with all sorts of things that screw me up.

I went out and played 9 today, first time using my new skycaddie, horrible 9 holes.  I think it actually made me play worse, it even shut off a couple times(this is normal?) as I would go a couple holes without looking at it as I was playing faster than i wanted because the group behind was pushing me.  I was having trouble with everything,  most notably couldnt get my clubface square on my irons, hitting a lot of shots even a raw beginner wouldnt be proud of.  I came home and took out an my old 7 iron i bought as a hack it out club from the local pawn shop for 5 bucks that i seldom use.  Took it out in the yard and started making some swings, hiting leaves and sticks or whatever i could find and maybe I was just nervous at the course as I was making some pretty decent swings in the yard and making consistent divots(tearing the crap out of my yard but it made me feel better, oh well no yard of the month).   The divots were basically all the same depth and all were going straight so even if i do come a bit over the top(im sure i do)  i was correcting it at impact.  Now I cant wait to go back out to the range tomorrow to try to get my mojo back before the weekend.

Just accept the fact that disappointment is part of the process.  Even on the pga tour, a guy can win one week and then miss the cut the next.  Learning the fundamentals of the swing and lots of practice usually means you will improve over time.

Also a pit stop in the 19th hole doesnt hurt.

I found a good way.  On the 9th (and final) hole after a mediocre, bordering on terrible round (not surprising since I haven't played in a few weeks and my tee shots were worthless the last couple times, too), I bladed a chip, watched it skitter across the elevated green, only to hear the "ka-thunk" of it landing cleanly against the bottom of the flagstick in the hole.  First time I've ever parred that bastard hole.

I couldn't react other than to laugh---it was such a bad shot that I am sort of sad that my first par on that hole "had to come like that," but at least I felt like I got paid back for a couple of bad breaks earlier in the round.  Walked out laughing instead of fuming.

So yeah, arrange for an undeserved, almost comical miracle par save on the last hole.  The frustration just sort of melts away.

Hello every body I started playing golf last year, average 3 times /week , actually I'm working hard enough to became 12 HCP so far , some time I hit 80 and less , during the 3 tournaments i played through the last month and since I started playing with 12 HCP I found my self struggling in the back 9 , i .e No of tournament. First 9. Back 9. Total 1. 39. 45. 84 2. 37. 43 80 3. 40. 45. 85. Notes: I hit the same course Same bag Always trying to think positively Think of good holes Always say to my self , no problem , forget it For the last month I did analyzed my regular mistakes and found the putting comes first , worked out how to read the green n practiced the 6 feet puts , the result was good My straight driver was long enough to put me into trouble in some holes cost me at least boggy, so I practiced the draw n worked well , my average drive is 280 yards I'm very good around the green My question is what is stopping me from hitting 75 n less Thanks for the advice Regards Aboulfadl from my beloved Egypt
