I like seeing data and stats about various equipment.  I wish they would come out with a standard labeling format for various components' specs, ie weight, dimensions, offset, torque, etc etc. (for clubheads, shafts, grips, and the like) that basically state vital stats right on the label/ad/package.  Some retailers and mfgs omit this info or make it too hard to figure out, would save a ton of time searching...

The only problem with complaining against this stuff is that it's always tied to our nooky.

i am completely with the  OP on this one.

i think there should be independant testing on all clubs and balls done with robot testing, showing which clubs are longest, most forgiving, most accurate, mishits, whatever - of course showing the lofts of said clubs.

The problem with this is most of us don't swing like machines and so the results would be suspect in terms of how they relate to an individual golfer.  Pass such a regulation and as an engineer I can tell you that all designs will be optimized for the machine test which will result in all clubs behaving pretty much the same.  So as my Dad used to tell me, "be careful what you ask for, you might get it".   I have to admit my personal philosophy is less regulation and more freedom works better.   Try before you Buy is still the best process.  Do you really want some machine to decide what club is best for you?
