I go golfing at least every thurday and today i hit a 59 on 9 i am 14 i have decent clubs and have a practice net to practice in what could i do to work on my drives strait and long and my putting .. I also need to know how to aim better please and thank you!

Tip #1 : Don't spam the forums, you probably won't get much help that way

Tip #2 : Be prepared to put in a lot of hours of practice

Tip #3 : Go to the range, or a field... hitting into a net really isn't that helpful as you don't get the feedback of your ball flight

Tip #4 : When you go to the range, go with a purpose.  Until you are pretty good with all of your clubs, you should probably go and focus on one thing for the duration of the practice.  At this point you are primarily building muscle memory so that you can have a swing you don't have to think about on the course

Tip #5 : Be prepared to fail.  You will inevitably try things that seem to work great one day, and not at all the next.  Unless you are going to get a consistent golf instructor, you will be doing a lot of trial and error.

Tip #6 : See if your school has a golf program.  Even if you aren't any good, they will probably still take you and show you the ropes.

Evan, get some books.  Ben Hogan Five lessons to start.  Its a bit old school in its graphics, but its basically the genesis of the modern swing. Start with that, then come back with some observations and specifics about your game so we can help you.  Gotta start with the basics, grip, stance, ball position, etc.  Get the books first, they will show you a complete picture vs bits and pieces you will pick up here...

You can get a set of alignment sticks, (or you can lay a club down) that you can use to help with your aim.  Lay one down at your target, then set your feet in the same alignment as the stick, that will help you work on getting your alignment down.

There are a number of putting drills on the web that can help you out, but you might just want to start by heading to a putting green or in your house... and getting a putting stroke down that you can maintain and have some consistency with.

As far as aiming goes, and I think this works for any shot (including putting), here is a simple tip that often goes overlooked.  I was watching School of Golf with Martin Hall on the Golf Channel the other day, and he says that most amateurs get their feet, shoulders, and body into position, THEN align the clubface.  He said to see a dramatic improvement in your aim, do what the pros do (and I have seen them do this on TV...A LOT!).  Step up to the ball, aim your clubface FIRST, then set your body into alignment.  I hope this will help you out!

P.S.  He also said something that sounds very true to me, and has stuck with me..."We can't all hit or swing like the pro's do, but there's no reason we can't setup and address the ball like a pro!"
