My experience with GG has been good as well, but for any fitting, I only go to one particular store to see their PGA pro. Overall, I think they do a good job but it can vary from fitter to fitter.

Good luck!

I had a driver fitting at GG in fall 2008 - a critical time in my golf career, as I was switching from stiff to regular shafts across the board.

The PGA pro had me hit my old driver (stiff) to get baseline data. My first choice for testing was the Callaway HyperX Tour, and he selected comparable R-shafted drivers from Callaway, Ping, and Cleveland. I hit all six and compared. The HyperX Tour was a performance tie with a Cleveland hiBore Red, but I chose the HyperX because I liked its set-up better.

He gave me the data printout, and I keep it for comparisons if I want to switch drivers. BTW, the fitting was free since I bought a new driver.

The driver works quite well - except on days when I can't keep my head still.

Are you serious? One of the big three scoring clubs, and you're happy just buying off the shelf? One of my top equipment priorities is getting my putter fit for me. I've bought enough used. Next one, full fit. Maybe Edel, maybe just visiting the Cleveland Golf center around here. Either way, I want to know it's me making the errors.

It's not rocket science boys. Go get fit from 10 different retailers or fitters and see how many different OPINIONS you get. The golf industry has got worse than used car sales. I can fit myself and have found that there are many different putters that "fit" me. If they don't make putts, they go on the suspended list and I use another. Back to the indian and arrow theory.

Putter fitting is far from snake oil. Believe what you will though. It doesn't sound like a simple post from any of us is going to change your mind.

A skilled putter fitter looks at: shaft length, loft, lie, and swing weight. I got adjustments in all four areas a couple of seasons ago on my Ping Pal, and now get better roll and don't always miss to the left.

For years I used an Acushnet Bullseye putter, and would have good days and bad days. Finally ditched it for a MacGregor model. Played around with the Bullseye this winter, and discovered it had too upright a lie for my putting stance, and was a bit too long.

In the old days you just tested a few putters until you found one you thought you liked, and took it from there. Not too much bending, etc. And certainly you didn't input six data points about your game into the magic software and get three finalists recommended by Odyssey.

If you found the putter right away, congrats! Most of us don't...

    • Went to a PING fitting day today. Going to be ordering a G430 Max 3w with a 75g x-stiff shaft at 5w length and a 3h. I forget what my fitter did with the shaft on that but she told me she’s going to email the club the specs of everything. The 3w combination we found pretty quickly. As for the hybrid, we tried a bunch of different head and shaft combinations for that distance with mixed results. Then she handed me the 3h and I took three swings with it and knew it was the one.
    • Yeah, this isn't sandbagging. It's outright cheating. He should be banned.
    • That’s quite a generalization. It’s clear that you don’t like water but there are plenty of us that drink it just fine. My daily intake is usually about 20oz of black coffee, 16oz of soda, 8oz of milk mixed into a protein shake, and anywhere between 30-60oz of water. It doesn’t even need to be cold and I kind of prefer it closer to room temperature than cold. I quite like the taste of tap water, with sole exception being the tap water at Magic Kingdom (it’s terrible). I can’t stand when people bring me tap water with a lemon wedge in it. I didn’t ask for lemon in my water.
    • This is the part I don’t get. He’s not even kind of sandbagging, he’s blatantly doing it and submitting scores that are verified to be incorrect. How he’s not banned from competition is beyond me.
    • He's right in what he's saying.I also have done this experiment with a golf shaft swinging with one arm at a time.one arm at a time is for me very fast but both hands together are very slow ..I got my 17 year old son to do this experiment and he swung very fast with either hand and he swung very fast with both hands together..My conclusion up to now is ; I'm not using my wrists properly but I not a 100 percent sure just yet..I will keep trying to fathom this out .I'm a 12 handicap and my son is 3.9 at Westlancs..
