Something to ponder: who holds the most club records, of any kind, anywhere?

This thought crossed my mind as i was having my pub club at lunch on the veranda overlooking the 18th hole:

Who holds the most records, on any course(s) ? I was wondering how interesting it would be if say a pro on the PGA or even the nationwide player were on a show or something in which he went around to courses he draws out at random (have to be 18 hole course, with at least a 72.0 rating for 72 holes or 71.0 for 71 or finally 70.0 for 70) with a chance to have 2 tries to break their own respective course record for scoring...thoughts/considerations/opinions...? Just something to think about i guess, wonder if anyone's thought the same or something along the same lines...

I am guessing that this would be too hard on most courses that have been in existence for more than a couple of years.  A scratch player will shoot 7 better (65) than their handicap every 2500 rounds or so. If 2 scratch golfers play a course every day, in 4 or so years the course record would be ~65. If the average PGA pro is like a +4 or 5, they will shot a 64 or so every 100 rounds or so.  And I might be making it easy on the Pros. There are a lot courses with +2 club pros out there. If they play 3 or 4 times a week over 10 years, you can start getting the 62s and 63s which are real hard to beat.

Of course there are probably some courses that haven't seen a scratch player in a decade.

I assume that is the record for getting kicked out of the most courses because from what we saw on TV it sure isn't scoring records.....

If you had a show like that, it'd probably be one of the better players who is closer to a +5. From this article, that's basically the top 30 golfers, which is probably the field that a reality TV show would pull from for such a show. On a CR 72 course, a +5 would shoot 67 on average, just two strokes above the "record" of 65. All they'd need is a good day. Given two tries I'd say they have a chance. Maybe not a great one, but a reasonable one. Also, handicaps are underestimated for players better than scratch. Someone with a +5 handicap got that by carding a bunch of -5.2 differentials, so while the 5 HDCP will usually shoot a little above his HDCP, a +5 HDCP will usually shoot on or a little lower than his HDCP.

There are a lot of guesses in that equation. A lot of it would come down to what is the average course record. Shooting 64s (assuming the record is 65) for a pro will happen with a decent frequency. Shooting 63 is a lot harder and if a 62 was required you might wait a lot of seasons.

Personally I think it would be more fun to have the Pro show up at a bunch of member guests and demolish the other teams.
