My dad introduced me to golf in 1982 and gave me during that summer his “old” Wilson Staff RM Mid size irons set with a brand new Ping Zing putter. He was already playing with one & he was playing excellent golf at 9 of handicap. I played all my junior years with these clubs and they were amazing! feel and playability at it’s best. Life was good. One day, late 80’s , someone stole my dad’s bag while on vacation out of town, he lost his beloved ping zing putter. My putter went directly in his new bag, it was the right thing to do for my hero. He played with it all his life , till the day he past away tragically from an hart attack in 2009, just a week before his 70th birthday. In his honour, I’ve been playing back with the putter since his passing away. This week, I found on a used golf club site in the region where he vacationed, an old Ping zing putter, in excellent condition with the original grip. Looking at the images of the putter, with tears in my eyes , I bought it, emotionally thinking of my dad and all the great years we had together. A little peace of him in coming back home next week, I can’t wait to go back on the practice green in his honour … life is good is good again

Good job...

A good Putter has nothing to do with the Price Tag.

Someone who putts well should know that. Hand them just about any putter and they will always be a good putter.

About 5 years ago I bought a Brass Master when I was in a golf shop in Sebastian, Fl. It was old but the shop owner put a nice Tacki Mac rubber grip on it. I putted great with it. But being a fool and thinking the grass was greener with another putter I put it in the mothball arsenal of clubs of which I have plenty. This year  I put a nice green carpet in my office and bought a putting return machine. I have found myself making a morning routine of putting for 5-10 minutes everyday. My putting has gotten much better.

I  brought out all the formerly benched putters from my garage and tried them all at my new practice facility. Well as you can guess the old Brass Master has found its way back into the starting lineup. It really has a nice soft feel and as others have said here lets you know when you are getting off center on your putts.

    • If I can take a full swing, I'll use the stock club for that yardage.  I can't really get creative.  Just don't have that ability.  In the past, I used a sand wedge for all my shots around the green, opening or closing the face and moving the ball back or forward in my stance to get the flight I wanted.  I am trying now to use different clubs around the green.  I'm less likely to flub it but I struggle with distance control.  More practice required.

Lots of interesting info and it's very funny.  Lou is one of the hosts along with Greg Chalmers and Mark Crossfield.  They love to give each other a hard time.  Lou catches most of it, but he takes it well and dishes out his fair share.  Great show.
