First time on 18 holes in a few years. Chunking slicing hooking topping, u name it I and I did it. I had a couple of really good shots. 1. 7 wood par 3 greenside, about 18-20yd to the pin made a bogey there. 2. Last shot had a 7 iron and pitched it about 3 ft from the pin. All in all a couple of good long iron shots, a couple good hybrids, scoring clubs 6-PW were ok....... driving good, need a lot of work on putting and irons and I'm confident I could break 90. Grand total. 127!!!!! Lol..........par 72. +55 oh my! Going to clean my clubs and wonder if it gets better :( sigh, on light note, these taylormade burner TP balls are pretty good. Thanks for reading.

I began last year with a score a little over 120 (on a par 70). I think I triple-bogied nearly every single hole. It can get better. A terrible game doesn't mean you won't improve. Work on chipping reasonably close to the hole from within 20 yards and on two putting everything from within 30 feet. Hit a few fairways and you'll break 100. :-)

Thanks for the motivation from you guys, I'm going to try the back 9 in a week or so as it seems a little easier to me than the front, what would be a good number to shoot for?

50? 55?

I am going to change all of my grips to lamkin crossline midsize, i have much better control with that grip, have it on my sand wedge, the other irons are gp dd2 yellow, i just like the lamkin so much better and i think it will help me tremendously on the downswing, that seems to be my fault, (not bringing it down square with the ball)

I don’t think you should “shoot for” any score. I think you would be better served by just playing – treat it as a practice round. If the course is not crowded play a couple of balls, and get used to making shots instead of counting them.

Sand wedge is also easier to hit compared to say, a 7 or a 4.  The grip might help but dont focus too much on the equipment.  Yes, having a consistent grip across the set can help, but dont expect it to be a fix-all.  A good number to shoot for is better, or even the same as what you did previously.  What you should do is work on some good practice at the range, that where you will get better faster, not on the course

its  always  a  good idea  to play with comfortable grips...............If i may suggest  ask the pro at the  course  to take  a  "quick look"  at  YOUR GRIP

you  might get  a  solid  tip  for  "solid contact"     good luck

Quit now...

Why?  Even when you become a little more skilled - you could be +1 standing on the 14th tee at a nice Pete Dye track like I was yesterday, then hit two in the water and have a three putt in the next four holes.  +1 on the 14th tee, but shoot 81.  +1 in the first 14, +8 over the last 5.

Stupid, Stupid game.

127 is "a little rusty" like Serena Williams is "a little whiney".

Sounds like you need to forget score for at least a couple rounds. Just keep it in play and make shots.
