Whats your weigh in on Phil this year? I just watched the 19th hole and they're saying he's bored with golf and doesnt care anymore. If that was the case, then why is he working out? why has he listened to critics and actually stopped smiling (has anyone noticed this? or is it just because he's not playing well?) Anyways I think he's just rusty after his 6 month lay off, some of his manuerisms piss me off, but he's fun to watch and im always rooting for him to edge out Tiger or win majors.

does anyone care about Phil anymore?

I do not buy into the whole he is bored with golf and does not care anymore. If this was the case then why would he be working out, why would he not just come out and say hey I am burnt out right now and I am going to take a break.

Never been a Phil fan. Great player indeed, but I will always root for the other guy down the stretch. He does have a marvelous short game when his confidence is up.

yeah he's real bored alright, co-leader after the 1st round. If he was bored he wouldnt be trying. He'll win another major this year.

Think about those things you've always wanted. Goals you worked very hard for. Things you compromised family time etc. . . to put extra work in to achieve. Now imagine you had it . . . . in your grasp, and it got away.

I know when I am busting butt for something, I want to see results - see a return on the investment. Boy, to get that close, and lose it, all you can think about is how hard you worked, how much energy you expended, and how you will have to do it all over again just to maybe have another chance. Makes me tired just thinking about it.

I know all players are working hard, but most in a somewhat anonymous pursuit. For Phil & other top players, there is no hiding from failures of this magnitude. Tiger took a bunch of crap for missing the cut at that US OPEN as well.

Phil will be better and better the closer we get to the Masters.

Correction. "Now imagine you had it .....in your grasp and

you pissed it away." It's not just that he lost it. That would be bad enough, as you say. It's how he lost it. And I think he is more painfully aware of that than anyone else. I would like to see him rebound because I think he and Singh are the best two candidates to challenge Tiger at any given time, but it may take awhile.

I might be wrong about this, but my take was somebody else claimed Phil was bored but Cellini, Davis & Duemig discussed the other person's opinion and didn't agree with it. I don't recall whose opinion it was, primarily because it was someone I'd never heard of before.

Well one round don't change it all but 65 in the first is better than he has been doing. My take is he has been playing golf his whole life and you just do not lose it overnight unless there is an injury ie Duvall.

Back to back solid rounds and this one on Pebble.Granted there was less wind today but rain and some wind made it play long slow.Having him and Furyk in last group should be a good watch.Somehow I don't belive his partner Mr.You is a 10 handicap but he is a CEO of something so he will play.

Mabe you're right, It may have been a caller that suggested it. But Im pretty sure they partially agreed and discussed it thoroughly.

yep, it seems that Phil is already back!

how about that... I like when I criticize a player and he proves me wrong right away! (it happens pretty often!) maybe I should start criticizing Mike Weir, so he can start winning!?!! Good luck Lefty!!!

Well you know what they say..... "opinions are like........well you know what they're like, and everybody has one.

But I digress. I watch the 19th hole alot but don't agree with what they're thinking hardly ever. When a guy gets eliminated from Big Break and co-hosts the show I hardly give alot of credence to what he says the pros are thinking.

    • @DeadMan, I think your approach makes sense. As @dennyjones said, consistency is the key.
    • Day 204 (22 Nov 24) - Weekly men’s group round today.  Temps in the upper 40’s, WNW winds 5-15mph - was the old man in the foursome (next youngest is my junior by 10yrs) - held my own against them.  Iron play getting more consistent -seeing predictable ball flights and distances. While the consistency coming around still had sone solid negatives as I had two dbls and one triple. On the plus side - eight pars and one birdie.
    • I don't think anyone will really care.   It's your call.  Just be consistent.
    • I agree, until we are watching the 18th hole in the dark or waiting for the champion to finish and it's been 5+ hours
    • Question for the group. The course I normally play at has 27 holes - 3 9s that they use to for 18 in the various combinations. Is it okay to declare* if I’m playing front or back when I play 9 on this course? I’m figuring I need to declare before I play a shot. *meaning just say to myself that this is the back 9. Curious what people think. Of course, my only holes left are 13 and 17, so I’m going to declare the back 9 for the rest of the year. Probably only one or two more rounds though.
