I usually wait for a year to buy new golf clubs for the price to drop and read plenty of reviews before putting them into my bag. Also at my current location, it takes a while before a new club is launched into the local market compared to the US or other developed countries.

So I would like to get some help on picking my new driver. I am comparing the following four.

1. Callaway X 460 Tour
2. Callaway FT5 Tour
3. Titleist 905R
4. Taylormade r7 460 Tour

Please give an unbiased feedback on both club head, stock shafts and other useful info (Especially the distance comparison). Thanks.

titleist drivers speak for themselves. recently tried the 905r with a proforce v2 shaft. nice classic look at address and sets up nicely. I can't say enough about the shaft. A guy in my regular group hits the Callaway 460 tour with graffaloy blue stiff shaft. I've hit it and it is just ok. I don't like the look at address and the sound is a bit annoying but the club is really long. Judging buy sales numbers the taylor made's are liked by many, I just cant seem to hit em. My advice would be to go to your local golf shop, demo each club your thinking about buying for at least one hole round and go from there. And try different shaft options for each club. It will really make a huge difference for you. Although there many more newer drivers out there, I can't seem to let go of my Hogan Big Ben CS-3 driver. Since callway bought hogan and discontinued there drivers you can get them very cheap now. Good luck with your decision!

I love my FT-3 but just witnssed Phill hit over 80% of Pebbles fairways with a new Pro Series FT-5 so I might indulge myself.

I've had the 905R for about a year now and really like it. I have the Graphite Design YS6 stiff and it suits my swing very well. I usually swing between 104-109MPH. If you can go to a launch monitor it will really help you no matter what driver you choose! The driver will be just a feel thing. My wife has the Callaway X460 and hits it awesome. A friend of my has the Taylor R7 460 and never misses a fairway. Just get a driver that feels good to you! Have fun.
In my Ping Pioneer LC bag -

Of the four you mentioned I have only hit the Callaway X and I really liked it. I still prefer my Nike SQ

    • I wouldn't mind getting a Jupiter hat since I live down here, plus it's Tiger's team. I enjoyed how much faster it was, as well as the grass tees. I'm looking forward to Tiger's first match next week. Shame, it looks like the entire season's sold out. I live right down the road from it. Oh well.
    • I'm wearing a Ballfrogs hat in my photo with Lou from the other day (and I wore it again today): This was the WORST the production and live show are going to be, and they got a lot of things right with only room to grow. I think it'll only get better (not wildly so, but incrementally). And it didn't help that it was a blowout, and yet… it was still pretty interesting. Singles was weirdly a little bit of a drag. I almost wonder if that's not a mid-season change.
    • I missed about 11 weeks of golf this summer due to a back issue, and my distance is still not recovered.  Yet my Handicap Index is 7.0, as compared to 9.1 last January.  So apparently I'm better!  TBH, I haven't improved any skills, with the possible exception of making better decisions.  Ah well, it'll be fun in the new year, as it always is.
    • Yeah, it started Tuesday night.  I watched the first hour and a half or so of it. I enjoyed it. It was fast paced, different, entertaining, etc. I think it's a perfect thing to watch in the winter when good portions of the country are stuck inside and have nothing else to do on Monday evenings. (First week was on a Tuesday but the rest of the matches are on Mondays I believe) The whole thing ran pretty smoothly IMO. Technology seemed to work fine, and if this is the "worst" that it's going to look and feel, I'm here for it.  My wife bought a Boston Common shirt last night because she likes the logo. I think Boston Common is the best logo and I'll probably pick up a hat or shirt from them as well. There isn't one team that is made up of 4 players that I like a lot, but if I had to pick a team to be a fan of, I'd pick LA or Team Jupiter, but I feel like Team Jupiter will be a fan favorite simply because of Tiger.
