So I've had the R7 Superquad since about six months after it came out.  I love the driver but recently ran into a problem with it.  I was adjusting the weights and the last one I screwed in stripped before I was able to lock it into place.  Now, I can lock it in and I can't get it out.  I called TM and the rep said there was nothing they could do for me.  Am I just up the creek here or should I expect more from the company?  I've always heard they are fantastic when it comes to customer service.

I have the same Driver, I got it when it first came out too. It is looong past any kind of warranty. If this happened to an R11 I could see your point, but expecting a company to help you with a club you've had and hit for years is kind of ridiculous.


The R7 Superquad was released in 4th quarter of 2007, so you bought it early 2008 making it over three years old.  I think your expectations are a bit unrealistic of TM here.  If you like the driver and need to change weights I'm sure you can find some on eBay or Craigslist very cheap.

That's what I figured...I just wanted to double check with others who may have more experience.  As far as getting new weights is concerned, that would be an easy fix...if I could get the stripped one out.  I suppose I could attempt to drill it out but that may cause damage to the head.  I guess my only other option is to use one of those tools/special dill bits that grabs stripped screws and gets them to come out.  Any other suggestions?

The best first step is a left hand drill bit.  It drills counterclockwise which in most cases will back out the broken item.  If that does not work use an easy out which should match the hole you just drilled.

It sounds like you stripped the where the wrench goes if that is the case use a punch and a hammer to get it spinning and it should come right out.

Unless you have some funky weights in there I would leave it alone.  I think it has been proven that the weights do not make a drastic difference.

I am normally a Taylormade fan. I have Jetspeed Driver and Woods, RSi Irons and Daddy Long Legs putter.

So this late April I bought the Taylormade Driver and 3 Wood. All going well to start.

In June I noticed the 3 wood face started to rust on the inset of the face, also then the weight in my Driver came loose making the Driver unusable.

I rang Tailor-made and they said everything would be OK and to call to my local dealer…

So into the our local pro and he shipped them off immediately.

That was late June, it is now Sept 20th and I have still to get my clubs.

They first stated that my new 3 wood is OK and this is only an aesthetic issue and the rust on the face doesn’t effect performance. My pro freely agreed it would heavily affect its resale value. The 3 wood was new less than 8 weeks earlier.

Talyormade has this club longer than I have had it and I bought new.

The Driver they have given multiple answers on… From willing to replace  to will be fixed…

Either way Taylormade has had both these clubs for the best part summer and I am hoping to get issue solved soon. I know other people had great experiences with their Customer Service but I feel very let down...
