I am just starting to golf and have been borrowing a set of my buddies clubs, but I am currently looking and getting some of my own. I saw a local add including is a Srixon driver 10.5 degree, Adams 3 wood 15 degree, a complete set of Adams A40s set of hybrids and irons. 3 and 4 hybrid, 6,7,8,9,p, gap, sand and lob wedge, and an Ogio bag for $375. Is this an okay deal for these clubs or should I keep looking?

that sounds like a good deal to me, i would go look at them. ask if the seller could meet you at a local driving range to hit the clubs and see how you like them.

The worst day of golf beats the best day of work!

Sorry, I am really not up on those manufacturers offerings and prices enough to offer advice on the deal. Might check eBay for them to get an idea of what they are going for. Just want to share with you advice to put aside and 'add in' about another 80 bucks to the cost of whatever you are buying used, to pay for having them fitted and lies/lofts checked and adjusted. Maybe more if you have small or large hands for different size grips. No matter how good the deal is, it's not a deal until you finish it up by getting them fit to you. You don't have to be good or experienced to get fitted. But not doing so will really slow down the process of getting better. Hope you enjoy your new set whatever it might wind up being!

I would agree with this. If you like the way you hit them and they are in decent shape, that's a good deal. Adams is high quality as is Srixon and Ogio. Good luck!

    • I was there just for sunday, and it went smoothly. Thanks @Hardspoon for helping in setting this up.
    • I say this in believing the guy should just pay you and he's a d**k for not.  Do you guys play by the USGA rules strictly? If so, then the claim is valid. It sucks, but it is. Again, he is a d**k for being that nitpicky over it. If he wants to play the game of waiting for you to finish to have his ah-ha moment, again he's a d**k. Though, if the putter is non-conforming, you maybe able to claim that it is not a club?  Just talk to your group and don't invite him back.
    • Couple of added points.  It was pink and maybe 18 long.  I am 6 1   And he waited until the round was over to say something when he was in my 4 some in the other cart.
    • I would have paid you. I think it's a reasonable assumption that the extra putter was not in play.  Having said that "Did you declare the extra putter out of play?"  This person seems like a bit of a weenie and he is also setting a dangerous precedent. Let's say he wins next month. Then when it's your turn to pay up, you could refuse. Telling him "I timed you on hole 8 and you searched for your ball and found it at 3 minutes and 1 second. So, you should have taken stroke, plus distance and didn't." You could then show him your stopwatch feature on your phone where you timed it out to 3:01 and say "See."  I actually would just let it go and assume the guy is a weenie. Because doing stuff like that takes the fun out of friendly bets. If he can't afford to pay up, he shouldn't bet.
