49 Y Grind

56 K Grind

59 C Grind

Hi - I've know Frank Viola at aceofclubstp.com for several years. I haven't played Miura in forever, decided to get his thoughts on Miura Wedges, and have him build a few with DG Spinners. I played Miura wedges about 7 years ago when their line was limited. With their limited edition lines, grinds and lofts have opened up. My PW is 45, so I began the real PW with the Y Grind at 49, bent the 56 K Grind to 55, and have a 59 C Grind as the LW. The K Grind is meant to reduce drag in Sand and Rough, and hopefully, the wet. The 59 C Grind is similar to a wedge I already enjoy - the Bridgestone J Series. The Miura has a tad more bounce and less camber. It also has more relief towards the heel (the C Grind). Notice the straigh-tish leading edge. Enjoy the Pics. Review to follow after play.

Frank is very thorough and exacting. I've known him for over five years. When Mr. Miura visited Frank's shop earlier this year, he wanted some of the tools that Frank owned !

I have a 56 and 60 in the standard grind. Same KBS Tour shafts as the rest of my irons. Very happy with them.

Frank is easy to work with, thorough, and knowledgeable. But he doesn't appreciate giving out a bunch of knowledge, and then having someone go down the street elsewhere and buy after they've picked his brain for the same thing for free. It's kind of a pet peeve because his time is valuable. I'm in Dallas and I get my clubs from Frank ... so that's a testimonial to his professionalism. He is a perfectionist.

As to the wedges,

Wow.

Took them out tonight for a spin ... predictable and consistent, accurate ... and of course, a solid yet soft feel. The Spinnahs felt very smooth for a DG -- surprising.

I loved the predictability and consistency around the greens and even enjoyed chipping with the 49 and 55 (which is something I don't normally do). Loved the K grind - pops the ball up nicely from rough and chipping was supah .. with it. For chipping, with each club, when I took it back short and came down with speed, I'd get consistent placement of the chip with nice spin and a little bit of roll - which was consistent. If I took the club back a little more and did not come down as quickly, I'd get more roll out, and once again, everything was consistent from shot to shot.

The 59 was the same ...if you had any kind of lie, you could crank it high. With bare lies, I just put it back in my stance with a square leading edge, and got a medium flight to the green.

I was impressed.
