Destroying My House

Its been a busy week at work, so my golf fix has had to be fulfilled by making "easy" swings in my apartment without access to a range or course. Pulled out my wedge and started practicing some chip shots off the carpet with those little spongy balls. Nice. Even landed one in a pot that was sitting in the sink! Obviously feeling pretty swell and all that.

Pulled out my spanking new 3 wood (havent been able to hit it yet, im sure you guys can empathize), and start making some super slow motion swings. God. Thing feels great. I admire it in the light for a while, pat myself on the back for choosing to purchase such a fantastic club and imagine myself belting it all over the course (standard Honeymoon period feelings about a new club). Do another little 20% swing. Then, take the club back (super slowly, I swear) to see how it feels at the top, club head knocks my light fixture and the ENTIRE thing explodes and showers onto the floor.

Finally bring myself to look up. Turn around and the thing is completely shattered. I spend the next hour tiptoeing around picking up shards of glass, cursing myself for being so dumb.

Needless to say, the spring cant come soon enough.

Anyone else have stories about wrecking your living space as a result of a golf addiction. There have to be others!!

My flat is too small (thank goodness!) to swing a club so none from me I'm afraid. The worst I've done is "gift" a ball to a neighbouring garden but it literally just landed on their lawn.

Not really the house but, the garage I went through 3 nets, 2 windows, and a dent in one of the garage doors that looks just like a golf ball.  Never cheap out on a golf net =)

That really sucks... I've swung clubs in my apartment as well.  Once I was a little too close to the wall behind me and hit it.... just took off a little paint, not a big deal.

Chipping at home I knocked a decent little hole in the wall. Nothing putty/paint couldn't fix, but still humbling.

My apartment is pretty small, but I tried this a couple of times and the most I was able to do was do a few smooth, controled swings with a pitching wedge or my Cleveland wedge (when it was new) or just putting on my carpet.  I think when I pull out the driver, all hell will break loose and I'd smash everything!

I've screwed up all kinds of things. I cracked our glass coffee table, took a huge chunk out of the carpet and I did exactly the same as the O.P when I moved in when I clipped the light fixture and shattered it all over the living room.

Someone else posted a thread just like this a long time back and there were a bunch of good ones but one I'll always remember was the guy that said he was taking mini slowmotion practice swings with his putter that still had the cover on it with some kind of trailing rippon and it caught the sprinkler head in his apartment and in a matter of minutes the entire floor had several inches of murky water covering it.

I tore up the carpet in my last apartment pretty bad but then I bought a house with a yard. My favorite of all time was when I was younger my dad and I were out chipping in the yard. The old man is hitting flop shots backwards but he finally went to far. He hit a shank and it was screaming at the french doors lucky for him it was a little high so it just cracked the trim.

I like to chip from the carpet up onto the sofa... the aim is to land the ball on the seat of the sofa. If you hit it a bit hard it will hit the back rest and not hard enough and it will not make it up. help you to work on touch but not keeping you swing smooth as its not a full swing. kinda fun though!

In my old apartment I had a "hole" worn out of the carpet where I used to chip foam balls at and sometime into a chili/stew pot.  Needless to say that was my best shot on the course.  No way I could have taken a full swing in that place.

I have one of those chipping nets - spent countless hours last winter hitting 12 ft chips onto my elevated foyer (put this big sheet of cardboard behind it to protect teh wall - still managed a couple ball marks in the entrance wall).      Definitely wore the carpet thin - the wife didn't see the humor in it.     A separate incident resulted in a distinctive mark in the suspended ceiling of the family room that looks exactly like a 56* wedge - need to replace that tile.     Hoping to get out a couple more times - snow has mostly melted & it's going to be a sloppy mess for the remainder of the season, but at least it's golf ...

I have to keep the club to 9 irons and under, other than that i will put nice black marks on my ceiling..

I have put a few small dings in furniture.  Luckily the distressed look is "stylish."

Nearly knocked out the lights on a ceiling fan.  My bonus room has a mirror above the wet bar and I was using it to see how my stance/swing looks...wasn't paying attention to the club head and it nearly hit the glass light covers.
