I'm wondering which one of these two has a thinner top line and sole, lesser amount of forgiveness, and lower ball flight. In other words, are the 712s more of a player's iron than the 710s or did they just make them more forgiving and less of a player's iron? Any opinions are welcome. If there are any Titleist reps or anyone else who knows for sure please comment. And another thought, are the CB's far off from the AP2's?

I think they're going to be pretty similar but here is a good write up

I'm sure that Titleist would tell you that they did both... they made the club more forgiving while still making it easier to work the ball...

I've only seen pictures of the 712 AP2s but I'd assume that they are pretty close, as to thinner top lines and the like I can't say as I haven't seen them in person or compared them side by side.

I wouldn't think that they would make the too much more of a players club as they have the CBs and then the MBs if that is what your are after.

I just looked at them in person last week at a Titleist Fitting Academy.  I play the AP2 710s and was curious how much different they were in person.  Outside of the cosmetic changes, they look identical b/t 712s and 710s.  The Master Fitter agreed you can't tell by just looking at them.  Topline, offset, blade size, etc....are same.  It's all marketing if they say they are drastically different.  Internally, it sounds like they moved weights around to increase MOI, but they felt the same when I hit them.

They moved weights around internally? So these aren't simply forged blades then?

And regarding their similar appearance, what do you really expect from one set of blades to the next? Some companies like Adams, Vega, Srixon, etc make their blades unique looking but in the end they soon look dated and stupid. Change the finish and shape slightly, then stamp a different logo on the back and people's imaginations run away with them. Blades are blades. It all comes down to the sole grind and the shaft and the rest is cosmetics.

The title of the thread and the clubs being discussed are the AP2s, not the MBs.

From the site, it looks like the tungsten weights have gone from one solid bar across the sole to two separate bars set at the toe and heel.  Not sure what the previous poster was commenting on.

HAHA - I know, I just re-read it when someone mentioned the word "tungsten"

All I can say about the SCI AP1s and GI AP2s is that the 712s are even uglier than the 710s.
