I don't like the shaft in the new Ping driver, and I am considering changing to a slightly heavier shaft. Speaking with Ping, they say that because their shaft is counter balanced, I would have to shorten the new shaft to maintain the proper swing weight. Has anyone else switched shafts on this club, and if so, how were your results? Thanks.

I put an attas in my i15 and kept the same length without any problems.

I might be putting in a Graphite Design DJ-6 and I'll let you know.  I would shorten it anyway, Ping stock is 45.75"

I just got a new shaft put in my new G15 driver.  I believe it is a 45" shaft, but I don't know what the original shaft lenght was?  I thought 45", but I could be wrong.  Regardless, I have noticed a huge difference with a properly fitted and higher quality shaft.  Go for it.

I had a Grafalloy Pro launch blue shaft put in, and it measured E-1 swing weight. They had to put a lot of weight in the butt end to offset the additional weight in the head This made the club feel very heavy. The club hit very straight, but I am afraid I might hurt myself trying to use this club. Unless Ping starts making drivers without "special" head and shaft combos, this will be the last Ping driver I will ever own.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
