Yeah, ive been looking at it online, it looks pretty nice. Its a semi private course I guess. And the tournament Im in is an SCGA qualifier so its invite only, which make sense on a course like this.

Im supposed to play a practice round sometime next week, so we'll see.

I'll bite.  What does DWAI mean in the context of a handicap index?

But then again, what the hell do I know?

Here is a secret for Palm Springs (You may already know it so if you do disregard)... The basic rule out there is everything breaks toward Indio, find where it is in relation to your golf course and the putts that look straight will go that way... Good luck

Hahaha, DWAI is for: Dont Worry About It… I put DWAI in there because too many people on here are concerned with handicap numbers. And by putting that there it bugs the crap out of the handicap warriors on the site. hahaha

Thanks for the explanation.  I should take mine off because while technically it is correct according to the SCGA, I haven't been able to play since August for health reasons.  If I were able to go out today I'd probably have trouble breaking 110.

My wife and I took a golf vacation a few years ago in the summer at La Quinta and played the Desert course, the PGA West Nicklaus course and the PGA West Stadium course.  I'm looking forward to watching the guys at Q-school play the latter 2 courses on TV this weekend.  Of the 3 we liked the Stadium course the best.  Although on the Nicklaus course my wife, who is no real golfer, hit the best shot I've ever seen in person.  She was in a greenside bunker that had to be about 15 feet deep with the face lined with railroad ties.  Somehow she caught the ball perfectly, and it lofted right out of the bunker, hit about a foot away from the hole, and just spun to a stop for a tap-in.  She could try that shot a million times and never do that again.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • It isn't about maintaining focus 100% of the time when you are on the course. It is getting focus back for the shot at hand. Even PGA tour players will chat with their caddies or opponents about non-golf stuff, but then lock in. It is hard to try to constantly be 100% locked in for 4+ hours.  Totally normal thing to happen. You really only need a few moments of focus.  This is where a pre-shot routine helps. Maybe you need to add something that gets the focus back.  I just focus on every shot like a puzzle that needs solved. I like solving puzzle and problems. So, I try to be curious. Which then enhances focus. I think it lets me take each shot at hand. It lets me have the down time between shots. What I do is just get to the ball, and then start gathering information. Yardage, lie, wind, where is the pin at, etc.. Then I figure out what I want to do.  It's not like I can't shut off the thoughts and focus when I need to. I only need to focus for a few minutes before each shot.
