Hi everyone, just visiting from England where a double eagle is known as an albatros, a rare bird indeed. I have never even been close to one, probably due to only driving 220... on a good day. Anybody else?

Got close once.  When I was playing in Reno during a college tourny.  Wolf Run golf club on the 8th hole, it's a downhill par 5.  Had a 7-iron in even though I'm a short hitter, hit a perfect driver, lots of roll, elevation etc.  The shot hit short of the hole, rolled forward and lipped out, tap in 3 :)  I didn't see how close it came, my coach was watching from the green and saw it.

Good effort @mvmac that must be one heck of a downhill if you only had 7iron left on a par5 and you're a short hitter... is Reno built on the side of a mountain, you sure your drive didn't land in the group aheads golf cart?

I made one once when I was 18 (18 years ago).  Playing in a 9-hole Wednesday-afternoon scramble at Pharoah Country Club in Corpus Christi, TX.  Long time ago, so I may be +/- a bit on the yardages.

The 7th hole is maybe a 500-yarder with a creek crossing the fairway at 220 out and another creek right in front of the green.  I hit a 12-degree Taylor-Made spoon off of the deck from about 235.  There are some shallow mounds right in front of the green, just over the creek.  Hit a good shot, right on line that landed into the face of one of the mounds and hopped over onto the green--but we couldn't see where it finished.  Got up to the green, saw nothing, scratched heads.  Then someone looked in the hole.

It was a scramble, but we used my drive so I count it!!

Good stuff @k-troop you will have to buy us a drink some time to celebrate Just played this morning, no danger of any low scores here today, very cold, my average 220 drives going 180 at best on lush wet fairways that suck your ball in. Managed +9 for 9 holes though so happy with that for me, chipping practice paying off now.

LOL yeah short hitter for college players.  Reno is at a higher elevation and the hole was downhill.  Probably hit a sprinkler head too

I was close last year.  A very short 250 yard straight par 4.  Ended up 5 feet past the hole almost directly in line so I must have just missed it.  Then 2 putted for birdie.

Closest for me is in my profile pic.  Just this last sunday,  par 4 287 to the front, 297 to the pin.  It stopped 12 feet left and pin high, two putted for birdie.
