Okay , i have a question , i have the TM 2.0 Burners 4-gap , i also have a 60 CG15 , I was wandering do i need to invest in a 58,54 and replace my Gap and PW in my burner set ?

I like the Gap and PW and i know how far i can hit them ,

Gap 100yrds and in

PW 135-140 yrds in

So do i need to get a 58,54 and split my set up ?

I used to have the Taylor made R7 irons which were 4-gap. After purchasing a 56,60, I looked and found out that my gap wedge was 50 degrees, and in retrospective I should have bought a 54, 58 to complete the ideal 4 degree gap between my clubs. But all in all, everything was fine and I had a nice distance gap in between each club. I just looked on the Taylor Made website and the Burner 2.0 gap wedge is 50 degrees. If you already have a 60, you could just purchase a new 56 degree club, or you could trade in your 60 to and get a 54 and 58; in both situations keeping the gap wedge (50 degree). It's all up to you if you want to spend more or less money.

I play CG14 wedges with stock Wedgeflex shafts. CG wedges seem tend to fly a bit shorter and higher than some wedges.

Burner 2.0 irons have strong lofts and clubhead design for distance. So, you might want to try out some wedges to see what yardage gaps you actually have. I'm guessing a CG wedge in 56* might be more of a yardage gap from the Burner 50* than you would think. So, at least try a 54*.

Even if you select a 54*, you might keep the CG15 60* if you primarily hit partial shots with your LW.

If you like the Burner PW and GW and they work for you, why switch? Wedge mix, like the ideal putter, is a personal thing.

I was in the same boat you're in last year. I bought a used set of TM rac's which came 4-AW (attack being essentially the same as gap--solid from around 100). When I went to get new wedges, I decided on a 54 and 58 to complement the set and maintain that ~4 degree margin between clubs.

I also went with TM rac wedges because while they may not be the "best" wedges on the market, I like that they have a similar look to the rest of my irons when I set up over them. That may or may not be something you want to factor in, I simply like the confidence that inspires.

Really?

I thought it was pretty clear ... he's asking random internet users if he should swap out his cavity back 45* pitching wedge and 50* gap wedge for 54* and 58* blades because he already has a 60* lob wedge.

He obviously adheres to the old timey "if it aint 9 iron, it's sand wedge" school of thought.

Makes perfectly cromulent sense ... I say go for it!

Your signature lists 12 clubs if your irons are 4-GW. I'm not sure what else you carry. Perhaps you have something between the 3-wood and the 4-iron.

If you have 14 clubs in your bag now, get rid of your 4-iron and add either a 54* or a 56* to the bag (one that matches the make and model of the 60* you like). If you really have only 12 clubs, add the wedge and a hybrid.

Do you really have a 35yd gap between your PW-GAPW?

That is a reaaaaaaly big gap between wedges.  Regardless of what you decide to do, filling that big void will be good for your game.  good luck!!

Actually when you lay it all out on the table in that orderly fashion it all comes together. My bad.

well on a more respectful, less condescending note, I believe a 55* should suffice. your gap is 50* no. then a 60* lob wedge. a 55* cuts the gap. the question is to but 54* and weaken it or buy 56* and strengthen, OR but Cobra Trusty Rusty which has a 55* option. so many wedges, so little time...........its honestly a blessing to have that problem.

    • Going to go against the grain a bit here and say that pain isn't as severe as we think it is sometimes.  A lot of times if something has been there for a long time it is really neurological.  Unless a sports med tells you it's likely to tear I would keep going with physio until a doctor tells you not to.  Good luck
    • I just wanted to post an update here.. so the person telling me that information was incorrect. They mixed up two of the courses that we play during our competition rounds and the one we played last weekend was NOT a non-smoking course.  I was also wrong in thinking that he was a member of said club, but he wasn't.. he's a member of a completely different club in our tournament pool.   The course that we will play next weekend is the one with the strict smoking ban and they have stated this clearly in their local rules.  The main reason for this is that there is a very high risk of forest fires in the area where this course is located at, so it's not to promote "health and wellbeing", but purely based on safety.
