Hey im new here and am looking for some help. I've seen this site has quite a sum of information and ill be digging around! Im a mid handicapper and am looking for a set of used irons in the range of anywhere from $180-300. Preferrably a little cheaper than 3 bills lol. Im really interested in the adams line but I don't know much about what clubs have good reviews. Im also willing to look into different brands. Thanks and all opinions are welcome!

I guess my advice to you is to go to a golf shop and hit as many irons as you can into a simulator. I really wouldn't buy anything before you hit them because it might be a huge waste of money. I'm guessing with a mid handicapper you could look into a slightly oversized iron that's very forgiving, but again you could hit a blade really well. It's really an unknown until you hit them. Once you've narrowed it down to a specific iron that you like, then it's time to hunt the internet. Don't be afraid to look at used clubs, or on eBay because there are great deals out there. Try Callawaygolfpreowned.com. Of course they have a lot of Callaway products on there, but they also carry other brands as well. Or Taylormadegolfpreowned.com. I've had very good luck through there purchasing both a driver and rescue club. And of course there's eBay. Do research on the company who's selling by checking ratings and comments. If the company looks good, and an image of the product looks good, give it a shot. I just purchased a set of Callaway RAZR X tour irons off of eBay for just over $280 including shipping, and they've barely been hit. I guess that's my advice for you because that's exactly what I did. Go to a golf shop and hit as many irons as you can to get a feel for one, and then scour the internet to find the best deal.

Well I can't really give true opinion on them because I only hit them once, indoors, on a simulator. But I can give an opinion about Taylor Made irons because before I purchased my Callaway RAZR X tour irons, I played the R7 irons for 3 years. They were amazing clubs. The sweet spot was huge and the face was a little over-sized which made looking over the ball very comfortable. Also the sole of the clubs were wide and a little curved which helped getting the clubs through the grass. But after reading comparisons with the R7 and R9 irons, I guess the R9's are nothing like their predecessors except for the inverted cone technology. A lot of people have really enjoyed them I guess. They fly further than the R7 whether you hit it on the sweet spot, or miss-hit it. Now depending on how far you hit your clubs, I would go for a 4-AW or GW (approach wedge or gap wedge) with your set. A lot of people have that gap missing between their pitching wedge (usually around 50 degrees) and sand wedge (typically 56 degrees). You don't have that 3 iron, which people usually can't hit well anyways, but you pick up a matching AW to fill that gap. Check out that review, try hitting the clubs, and then go from there!

Try touredge.com. I just purchased their hp 11 senior set brand new for $400. All their clubs come with a life time warranty. Top quality clubs and have iron sets in your price range. Check them out before you buy used. They really are a top brand named company with great clubs;-).

I tend to stay away from ebay due to the large quantity of "Fake" clubs, there are legit sellers on ebay you just have to know who to look for, and I have no idea since I don't purchase off ebay. Maybe some others on here can tell you who to look for. For me, I just can't take that chance. If you are set on used clubs, try 3ballsgolf.com or golfsmith.com, they are well known and recommended. On the other other hand you can find alot of new closeouts at your chain stores like Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy and possibly a few local stores. Plus you can actually hit them in the simulator to get a feel of each club. I just got back into the game last year, and went with the Taylor Made Burner 1.0's for $399. They were an awesome club and forgiving. Now this year they are offering last years Taylor Made Burner 2.0's for $399. Awesome deal and again a great club! Thats my recommendation!

Don't know where you live but if you've got a golf shop nearby with a big used section and monitors, just go there and hit all the irons in your price range.  The Roger Dunn shop near me has a huge used club selection, and I bought a set of Titleist 695 CBs in excellent shape for $200.  I'd say just go with what feels good and hits it straight.  The only other thing I'd say is avoid sets with huge offset, as you probably won't like that as you get better.

Do any of your have any experience hittting the taylormade r9 and taylor made r9 tp side by side? I have only beeen able to find one store in my area that has the taylormade r9s and I plan to go hit them on friday. I can't seem to find a store in my area that has the r9 tp. Wwhich is probably good as id probably want those even though my game probably isn't strong enough for them!

As I stated in my earlier post, I started out with the TM Burner 1.0's. A few weeks ago I purchased the new 712 AP1's. These are some of the best clubs I have ever hit! I assume you are referring to the 710 AP1's in "used condition. You really can't go wrong with a set of them. As far as R9, I have never hit them, but have heard alot of great reviews about them. Which online golf store has the AP1's for $229?
