Anyone have experience buying from these guys with their credit cards (the whole no interest for 6 months)? I've got good credit, and I'm not trying to mess it up over some golf clubs. That said, I'm trying to get a decent set on a college kids budget.

I have no experience with golfsmith's credit card, but typically with all store cards that offer no interest for any period of time include:

#1. All interest being applied to your account if you do not pay it off in 6 months (which means interest accrued from day one is charged once that 6 month period expires)

#2. A ridiculous interest rate.

If you have a bank card with a reasonable low interest rate, I would use that.

Not familiar with Golfsmith CC, but have bought a few things with a similar deal from furniture stores, and appliances from Sears.  It's just like Meenman says ... the interest accrues from Day 1 and if you are not fully paid off by that 6 months, you will owe all of it.  So keep track of that date.

also understand that store only cards can have an adverse affect on your credit score because it serves that store.

I have found Golfsmith to be extremely reputable to deal with. Their credit card (GE Capital) is only a good deal if you pay it off in time or you then get banged hard with 29.00% from the day of purchase. If you go that route, just make sure that you are disciplined enough to pay it off in time and then you are only paying the .99 a month maintenance fee. If it were me, I would probably use my regular card and just eat the 3 dollars (or whatever it is) a month that you would pay in interest. That way you wouldn't have to worry about closing that account after the promo deal.

Thanks guys for the advice, I ended up deciding to do it the right way and save. Should have them in a few weeks.
