I wanted to know if I was on the right track as i've been working on 2 specific swing moves in my backswing and downswing to try and play more consistently.  The three things i've been working on are as follows:

Backswing

- Focusing on opening up my right hip more

Downswing

- Feeling like my right arm is coming straight down (elbow towards my right hip)

- Feeling like i'm coming more inside to out (especially with the driver as i've consistently fought a slice off the tee)

Yesterday was my first day at the range due to winter, and I could tell that this was working well with my irons (hit about 30 balls each with my 6 iron and 9 iron solidly).  When I moved to the driver, I only sliced once but I was hitting everything solidly as well...problem was I was hitting it left.  I'm not sure this is ball position or if my hips are clearing too much, but my drives were just pulled left.  Wanted some input to see if I was on the right track or if there was another tip I could use to really get square at impact.  Thanks...

Kind of tough to say since I haven't seen your swing but I like the swing thoughts in general.  Just a suggestion, instead of thinking swinging inside out, try flexing the left knee forward and keeping it flexed longer in the downswing to create a path to the right.

Awesome, I think that's a link I need to work on.

To the OP, thanks for asking the question.

So when you're saying flexing the knee a bit longer, do you literally mean keeping it more flexed and in a sense rotating through the knee in a flexed position through impact?  In a sense, would that also be resisting the feeling of standing up (kinda...i hope this is making sense)?  I just went into a open office and tried to simulate what you referenced and that is definitely a different feeling, but ill give it some practice and see if I can get that feeling down...

Thanks for the info because I've been getting intermittent pulls and wasn't sure why.  Now that you explain it, I look back on those pulls and I do remember my lead leg straightening very early on my downswing.  You just saved me a trip to my instructor.  LOL.

Not rotating, the left knee will move forward, "feel" like less rotation.  When the knee doesn't go forward, the weight will be back, cause the path to be across the ball.

Will this also help my tendency to move my upper center forward on the down swing?

    • Day 49 - 2024-11-18 Light day of HackMotion work in the basement with my putting. Suffice to say my feels very closely align with what is measured.
    • Day 200 (18 Nov 24) - Broke out the MacGregor blades to do some “vintage” club pitches and chips.  Focus was on alignment and where I am looking in relation to the ball…have been working on finding a focal point about 3-6 inches ahead of the ball (toward the target) and not staring at the ball.  Getting very predictable strikes.  Overall it was a fun drill session and will serve as a warmup to tomorrow’s planned front 9 walk with these irons and persimmon woods and of course a “new” putter - a Acushnet Bullseye…
    • TV ratings  continue to drop. Stop the endless wiggles and waggles.
    • I believe that losing a tour card is too extreme but definitely agree that more needs to be done to prevent slow play.
    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.
