At pure desperation with this now! Ive never hit my wedges and irons so well in my life! But i cant hit my fairway woods or driver without either a babyfade or horrific straight slice,.....slicing more than 40 yards to the right! I just cant figure it :( ive tried to force release the club,....no joy,....ive tried closed stance, no joy,.....swining in to out,...no joy The only decent contact i get it slices, anything i try to do to stop coming ott and i just hit straight under it :( I got them going straight at one point but i was having to tense the crap out my arms and almost swing round flat of my body rather than on a conventional swing plane Id have a golf lesson but i just cant physically afford it :(

Sounds like you are steep and need to shallow out your swing plane for the woods.

To help shallow out your swing for the woods you can feel a lateral move towards the target on the downswing to help you come from the inside.  Your shoulders would feel like they are sliding towards the target instead of turning first to help stop the OTT.  Would also feel like your back is facing the target longer.

EDIT.  Let me add also without seeing the swing it could be just as simple as your face being to open at impact.  Depends on where the ball starts and goes.

Ball position is inside of left heel,....when i try to play it a ball or so further back it exasperayes the problem I currently struggle with hands being on plane but the club bring very laid off,......which isnt helping My swing video is in the members swing section which highlights this. If i keep the clubhead low on the takeaway i find it hard to get my hands any height at all

I agree with the guy above.  Need to shallow out that swing.  I've had that issue that you are describing during a round.  I was coming in steep and hitting it very high and pushing it right.  The on course bandaid I used was moving the ball way up in my stance.  Thing felt like it was in front of my front foot.  Then I went to the range and did some drills to shallow out my angle of attack.

Sorry double post If i move the ball any further forward i juat start pull slicing.it? Im either pull slicing it, balloong it, or severely blocking it right Im hitting my 4i further at the minute, I dont think my swing could get any shallower than it already is without being ridiculousy flat,

I highly recommend watching these videos to understand ball flight since you are working on your own.

Agreed.  I've been having a similar problem to the OP.  I went to get a lesson again (finally) and the pro pointed out I was swinging back way under plane and ending up with my club pointing right of the target at the top.  He has me working on being parallel to the target line at P2 and P4.  That's really done wonders for low and mid irons, but it brought back a huge slice with my long irons and woods/driver.  Especially with the longer clubs, I've ingrained really rotating hard near the start of the down swing to try to get the club swinging down the target line after starting on a plane swinging well right of it.  I've been fixing it also with the ever trusty hip slide.  If I concentrate on starting my down swing by getting my hips out of the way and then using that extra room to keep the club on plane it really helps.

Also, agree with the shoulders not feeling like they turn too much.  If I do the above but turn my shoulders too much I either just cast and come out-to-in, or if I'm concentrating on plane I can keep the club decently on plane and have a nice straight divot but can't get the club face closed and hit push-fades or push-slices with the long clubs.  If I don't over swing, keep my spine angle, and don't rotate the shoulders out of the swing too much I have much more success closing the club face.

With the short and mid irons and even the long irons im hardly swinging at all, im taking nice divots and getting a really piercing ball flight Interesting i cant hit my irons off the tee without slicing them either,... Ive also noticed on the driver i hit the ball really high up on the face as well, which im not to sure about,... Im sure im using my great new iron swing with my woods which is my problem, but i dont know how to combat it

Club face is clearly open at impact.

Clearly the grip is weak. The V of your right hand is pointing to your cheek. Try rotating your right hand so that the V points over our right shoulder. This will cause the club face to come around more closed at impact. I have some other thoughts but that may be enough.

thanks for taking the time to look raymond, much appreciated

i think i was using a strong left hand grip but a weak right hand grip as you say,...sort of negated itself really
