Club cleaning question

Just picked up my new Wilson Staff Ci6 irons and hit them for the first time.

Since i have a real set of irons now, what does everyone use to clean the face and bottom of their clubs?

Also, is there any polish that can be used for the bottom or is soap and water a general remedy?

I use a wet towel during a round, but once every couple weeks I will pull them all out and give them a good cleaning.

Here's my routine:

Fill up the sink with a couple inches of dish soap and water mix.

Dip the head of the club into the soapy water and then scrub the grooves with a cleaning brush.

Use a soapy rag to clean the rest of the club and shaft.

Rinse it off and then dry them.

Once I've done all the clubs, I'll change the soap and water out and then use a generic scrub brush and scrub each grip down and then use a rag with soap and water to wipe them down really well.  Then rinse them really well and set them aside overnight to dry.

I've been doing this for 2 years and never had a single problem.

I assume you've never had any rust because everything is stainless?

I cleaned mine tonight with a wet rag and it worked well getting the grass out of the grooves. I've also go Golf Pride grips so I'll need to make sure they stay clean and tacky too.

My clubs are forged steel, so they can rust, but I just make sure I dry them off real well and have never had any rust.

Didnt think about that. I'm using stainless cavities. So, I guess I don't need to worry at all about rust really.

i clean mine after every round and sharpen teh groove every 3 rounds or so

I've never experienced dirt on the clubs that clean water and a towel can't remove. Sometimes use a tee or soft brush to clean out the grooves.

I just cleaned my irons 2 weeks ago. I added basic car wash soap into a 5-gal bucket & filled it halfway with water. Let the irons stand in the soapy water for 5 minutes. After the soapy water soak I scrubbed each club head with a plastic bristled brush...dirt & grime fell right off. Rinsed each with the hose, toweled off & set aside in the sun to dry.

Once the irons were cleaned used the (now damp) towel to wipe down hybrids.

A trickle of water out the faucet and a nylon brush is all I've ever needed.  A few seconds scrubbing and then dry off the club head and it's done.  I use a wet towel on the course after each shot though so there's rarely much to clean later on.

Yep.  I was taught as a young caddie (a loooong time ago) to carry a large bath type towel that's half wet/half dry.  Takes care of the ball on the green too.

If I'm bored, I'll run a tee or my divot repair tool through the grooves during a round......but I'm not that bored very often.

I've never cleaned a club more than that.

I wipe them down during the round and about once a week or so I clean them up good... I have a bucket that I fill with warm water and dish soap and I put the clubs in there and then scrub them down, then I dip the brush in the soapy water and scrub down the grip.  After that, I dry them off with a towel and repeat.

Like the other guys I use the bathroom sink, soap and water. I learned the hard way about getting the water too hot as the glue softens or the steel expands and things get loose. Luke warm cuts the grime and I can let the soak a little bit without worry..

i wouldn't overthink it, water, brush (old toothbrush works great), towel, dish soap if you feel like it....

Make sure you dry them well....
