Easier up and down from short right than long left of green?

Isn't it easier to get up and down from short right of green than long left for a righty?

Most greens are sloped from back to front. And it's easier to give clockwise side spin. So I think it will be easier to stop the ball playing from short right of green.

Am I wrong?

I would say it's easier to get up and down from short of the green because then your pitch or chip is typically uphill.

I believe Ben Hogan tell us that short of the green preferred to over, since beyond usually has more severe trouble and is often not visible.  You can see what is front of the green.

completely depends on the pin placement...i know it sucks to hear that word as an answer but honestly, "depends..." first, if the pin is back or front it doesn't matter, the smart play would be to leave yourself (regardless of over or short of the green) the best way of up and down without short-siding yourself (best choice is always to be on the green in reg but...). i'm always going for the green, but if i miss i'm not thinking 'oh well if i miss there i can still put clockwise or counter clockwise spin on it', if you're good enough to determine what spin to put on the ball, you shouldn't be deciding which rough to hit out of for an up and down...you should be putting.
