Hi fellas! For quite some time I've been struggling with my consistency, having great 9 holes in a 18 hole round.:-D I think maybe I'm too aware of swing mechanics, specially arm work in the downswing. Now I'm wondering maybe (just a thought) I'm not supposed to think at all about my arms, but only in my shoulder work. Am I crazy? PS: I apologize if I made spelling or grammatical mistakes 'cos I live in Argentina. Thanx

One of golf's most difficult questions: what shall i do with my mind  during the swing?  Good luck and welcome to the vast crowd.

I played in Buenos Aries a few years ago.  Very lovely place and i hope the overall situation in Argentina improves for all.

Yeah, welcome to the club of not knowing what to think about!  The advice you'll hear most is thinking of nothing mechanical at all.  And there have been studies done on (professional!) golfers asking them to think just one keyword, like "smooth", or one mechanical thought related to what they need to work on at the range or whatever, and the ones thinking smooth always do significantly better.

But they're pros, and I've found that if I literally think of nothing mechanical at all out on the course I play like crap.  So now my opinion is basically for amateurs it's trial and error, finding what kinds, and how many, thoughts works for you.  My goal is as I get better and have better swing mechanics ingrained as a natural swing that I'll be able to drop the mechanics thoughts entirely.

For me its tempo, i try to think, One-Two.. My normal way of saying, one-two is the tempo that works really well for my swing. This gets my hands infront of my body and ive improved my ball striking with this way of htinking
