I am known to have a cigar or two before/during my round. In my regular group, it is OK no matter who I ride with. During tournaments it all depends if I am riding with a smoker or non-smoker. If with a non-smoker, I wont even ask and will wait to have one after the round.

But of course, I always bring plenty to share if anyone else wants one.

No I do not use tobacco products on the course, or off the course. I like breathing and since using tobacco has a great chance at shortening the length of time I get to do it I will refrain. My playing partner smokes, and he's had a heart attack because of it. He's a hell of a partner, not too bright, but a hell of a partner.

I've never used any tobacco products.  I don't get too worked up if someone in my group dips or smokes as long as they try to be considerate.  Only deal breaker are cheap cigars that smell like stink weed.  I get a headache when I'm around them so I avoid golfers that smoke them.

I smoke cigarettes. I have to ride in a cart so I bring an ashtray with me. I can't stand seeing cigarette or cigar butts on the course. I can't stand seeing sunflower seed shells on the course either. You'd be surprised at the number of pro golfers who use tobacco, mostly sneaking a cigarette or using Skoal. Nicotine has a calming effect on your nerves and that's why there's a good amount of tobacco use in professional golf. I believe it was Tom Coyne in his book, Paper Tiger, that brought that up. Cigarette smoking is bad for you. With every cigarette you smoke it's like you're killing yourself slowly. But that 's Ok, I'm not in a hurry to die.:-\

    • Day 563, May 18, 2024 Was going to play today, but we waited on the first tee for 15 minutes, watched three of the four players lose their golf balls, and went to the range (with @DrizZzY). I was hitting some hybrids 250 on the range, comfortably, repeatably.
    • Give it time. if Hatton misses another shot he might launch his club & hit someone .
    • That’s a pre Sunday leaderboard I can like.

    • Played Musgrove Mill GC today. 72.3/155. First round in 4 weeks and shot 44-39. 2 triple bogies on the front and horseshoed 4 putts today. Overall, 10 fairways, 8 GIR and 31 putts.  Set a goal today to par the 3 toughest holes (4, 18 and 9) and birdie 10 or 12 (which I have never birdied). Parred 4, 9 and birdied 10. Crushed my drive on 18 and had 139 left, but in casual water. Dropped back a little ways and took an extra club. Hit my 8-iron well but it came up short. Bunker shot from wet sand left me an 18’ for my goal. Read the break well but perhaps an inch too much break, and a touch heavy on the speed. Ball circled the hole 270* and tapped in for a bogey. Handicap dropped 0.1.
