Wow! Some rich drunken idiots last weekend at an Atlanta Country Club Member Tournament last weekend.

Some guy slapped his friend in the face with his weener! Now that is just out right gay!

Money + Alcohol + No brains = This incident

Read the letter and my very first thought was: "I will happily bet $1000 that John C. Weitnauer is a lawyer."

Anyway, won a thousand bucks off myself. But I'm probably going to welsh.

He should try the traditional rugby club initiation next. Roll up a sheet of newspaper, stick one end in your nought, light the other on fire then try run around the field as many times as you can before it burns down far enough the singe the hairs off your arse.

Stretch.

I just became glad I don't play rugby.

Presumably this sort of behaviour is OK at a non "prestigious" club.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

It's just not "news" at a non "prestigious" club.

Any chance this is a made up story? The stuff on the course I can see happening. I find it hard to believe the staff at the club didn't do something when they were disturbing the party next door.

Nope it's true. The writer at the deadspin called the manager at the club for comment.

The behavior was so bad, it couldn't be made up.

Yes, there is a chance this is, at least in part, made up.

From the article

Quote:

called the club and asked to speak with Holder but was told he did not have an office at that location. I explained my situation and was quickly transferred—after a snorting laugh—to the club's general manager, Gary Lanneau. I've left a message with him. I also left a message with the author of the letter, John C. Weitnauer.

sounds like no one every wrote or called back which doesn't help prove or disprove it.

When I was young and in the Marine Corps, that sort of behavior was rather normal. I didn't expect to read about it on the golf course with the culprits being individuals who's net worth is probably greater than at least one entire battalion though hahahaha.

Ahhh, the dance of the Zulu Warrior, I remember it well.  We we not allowed to run round a field though, only round a table at the bar.

    • Day 18: 2026.01.20 Continuing work on arm raise during backswing. Starting to feel less weird, especially the slower I go. Looking like a busy week so might be the weekend before I can hit some balls.
    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
