I guess we are two being excited, then. I think if you`re adaptable, the Sumo 2 will work out, as with every driver.

Anyhoo, is there many copies, clones etc. of the driver? And are they easy to spot as fake?

I have made one hole in one this far. While you are reading this, I am most likely out on the tee trying to sink another one

I'm hitting my SQ2 3 Wood almost 300 yards. I cannot WAIT to see how far I hit it with this Sumo2.

Really??

That is huge!!

Really??

Let me qualify that.

I've been hitting my SQ2 3 wood anywhere from a lousy 175 yds if I happen to loft the ball more than I intended, to 275~290 yds if I line drive it. I've always been the type of golfer than attempts to knock the cover off the ball... until recently I had a TERRIBLE slice. The ball would leave the tee like it is on fire, then make what seemed like an abrubpt right hand turn in mid-air, only to land out-of-bounds, or in the water. But two or three visits with the pro and I got that mostly fixed up. A tweak of my swing, along with a much much stronger grip, with a club that has stiff flex and I'm hitting it straight 80% of the time. Unfortunately by hitting better off of the tee, I've exposed my secondary weakness -- the short game. Chipping, Chip-Putting, Flop shots -- it's all so confusing at first. Do I put the ball in the center of my stance, leading foot, trailing foot? Who can remember all this? Once I tackle that, I'm hoping my handicap goes from 25ish to 15ish.
What's in My Bag?

Wow, I tried hitting the sumo 2 at my local golfsmith. The room where you hit it is inclosed, with only a small opening, so sound echo's like crazy. I hit 3 balls with the smo 2, and my ears are ringing

i recently got one. i upgraded from a 7 year old wal-mart driver so its a HUGE difference. i love it. it gives me a ton of confidence knowing i can hit it straighter and longer than any other driver i have ever laid eyes on. i use to get about 225-235 out of my long drives now i get 275ish with my sumo2. its a lot for forgiving and easier to hit straight for me. i know a lot of people wouldnt like it but i love mine and only paid $200 for it brand new.

i like mine a lot better than the G5. my friend has one with the same flex and loft as my sumo2 and mine is much easier to hit. you may want to demo one, it wouldnt be hard to get rid of your G5 if you decided to.

I just tried the sumo2 last night, i was testing out irons and my instructor asked me to try the sumo2 for him. What a club!! I was absolutely launching the ball. The net at the back of the range is 230yards and i was hitting that 3/4 quarters the way up. The ball was going dead straight. Had it not been for a soaking wet work shirt that was affecting my swing i would of most likely of hit it further. It is now definately up for consideration but i think i will most likely go with the sumo as my ball striking is pretty good and i'm beginning to learn how to control the ball more.

    • Day 26: Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls. A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.
    • My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.
    • Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.
    • No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
    • Looking to play in the Severna Park Golf league and it got rained out the first three weeks. I know the course is being renovated so it is not in great shape but the location is easy for me and I would love to meet some other golfers in my area. Anyone here in Maryland Annapolis area?
