After years of trying (ok, 3 years since I first picked up a golf club) I was able to find that mythical two-digit score!

Ended up shooting a 95 today at the Legends golf course in Clermont FL...

Biggest changes today were that my shots were more consistent. My driver was behaving pretty good, only missed one fairway the entire round. Distance was kinda short, going between 200-230, but I'll take it... Irons are still a problem, I missed GIR primarily because my second shot (third on par 5s) just isn't consistent enough yet. The good thing is all my misses were playable, nothing that was too horrible.

Wedges were awesome today, so after my crappy approach shots I was pretty confident, and was always able to get the ball in a good spot on the green. Had 38 total putts, so that definitely needs some work, but my irons are so bad I've never bothered to practice putting :)

Oh yea it was really windy today too, 15-25 mph winds, made a few of my shots pretty wild (or REALLY short when it was blowing straight at me off the tee)

So, this is one of the toughest things I've ever done, I've never had to work so hard for anything in my life, but I feel GREAT now! Time for a cold beer or 5 to celebrate!

Nice job! Just work on that putting though...that is a lot of putts. That is what I would work on first. Then the irons. Checkout my thread (the one about golf milestones breaking 100, 90, 80, 70) in this category

Yea I had 2 1-putts, 12 2-putts and 4 3-putts. The 3-putts were either really long ones that I didn't get enough speed, or something that I had a close miss on the 2nd so a tap-in 3rd putt.

But totally agree, need to get my putting average down.

Congratulations!   I broke 100 this year myself..    It's an awesome feeling to get past that milestone.

Way to go, it does feel good. It didn't take me to long but like everyone else is saying 89 is next, and that sounds like a fun goal.

April 29 was my 1st round and I shot a 128

May 24 was my 7th round and I shot a 99

Today June 2, my 10th round and I shot a 96

My game is coming along nicely. I hope everyone else's does two.

Sincerely, Jim

This is one of the best things about golf:  It challenges at every level and everyone understands how big the milestones are.  Once again, Congratulations!

congrats man!

I broke 100 for the first time this year as well.

The only bad thing about it now, is that you will expect yourself to break 100 every time.

I shot 90 with 36 putts on Friday. Had a putt for 89 too and missed! Had 5 birdie putts within 10 feet...I think I know what I need to work on.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
