For many years now i have noticed the white tape on Tiger's 2nd finger of his right hand. Can anyone offer some kind of knowledge of this tape? Esp.  Why he uses it? And why on that spot? Maybe i will try it!!  Looks like plain adhesive white tape to me but i could be wrong.

He doesn't like to get callouses where that tape is.  He says it hurts his feel.  I would imagine having surgical tape there would hurt his feel just as bad, but that's what he likes.  When I used to beat too many balls and tear my hands up, I'd use tape too so I could keep practicing.

Yup. He went away from it for a while, but it's back.

I still keep a roll of tape in the bag just in case I get a blister.

I never even wear a glove. I don't get blisters or callouses unless I haven't played in ages (which never happens). Some peoples' hands are tougher than others I guess. I know people who have been playing for years and need a glove or they will get serious blisters, and others are fine.

These pros are hitting balls for 4+ hours a day (at least) in some cases ... likely more than you.

I got a roll of tape in my bag. When I practice a lot and perhaps hit hundreds of balls a day, some spots can get sore. A little tape takes care of it. If I hit as many balls as Tiger, I'd probably use it more.

If I hit as many balls as Vijay does, they'd have to wrap my entire body with tape! LOL

I get a blister in the same spot but on my ring finger on my right hand.  All other spots are fine and I wear no glove at all.  Just something weird I guess.  I have been known to put tape over the spot if I know I am going to be playing 36 holes in a day or three days in a row

When I was first getting in to practicing a lot, I had to use tape during range sessions, or I would get all sorts of blisters. Now they have turned to callouses and tape is a thing of the past. Put the time in and you will get golfer hands.

I tape one finger because it splits. It is miss shaped due to being previously broken. Since this is not a blister, dry skin may be part of the problem.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
