Most every mobile app claims to have tens of thousands of courses built in, so I'm guessing there's some public repository with all of these courses. Anyone know where they get the info from?

Driver: TaylorMade SuperFast 2.0 -- 10.5* Woods: TaylorMade SuperFast 2.0 -- 3w 15*, 5w 18* Hybrid: TaylorMade Burner SuperFast 2.0 Rescue -- 4h 21* Irons: TaylorMade Burner Plus -- 5-AW Wedges: TaylorMade RAC -- 56.12, 60.07 Putter: TaylorMade Spider Ghost -- 35" Ball: It's complicated.

Probably Google Earth.  I don't know about Golf Shot, but I'm pretty sure the app I use (SwingbySwing Golf) uses Google Earth.

And SwingbySwing is free and works amazingly quickly on my iPhone 4S so that's my favorite part about it.

Dirver:  Burner Superfast (Stiff Shaft) 9.5*----3 wood: Daiwa 3 Metal G-4 Brougham

2 Hybrid: T7 Attack 16*----3 Hybrid: Golden Bear GB Tech 460----4-AW  Burner 2.0 (R Flex)

SW:  56* LW: Mitsubisha 60*  Ball: Nike PD Soft -- Glove:  Weathersof

What I mean by data is the yardages, distances to hazards, tee boxes, etc. You could certainly get yardages and tee box information from scorecards, but I suspect they didn't pile up 38,000 scorecards and input them manually. The map views and most certainly Google Maps, Bing Maps, or Google Earth. I'm mostly curious about the various yardage information they have for individual courses across the country.

I have mapped a couple of local courses for SbS, Golflogix, oobgolf, golfshot, etc myself.  Some also request a scan of the scorecard for hole distance and par/handicap verification.  Then they go through an approval process, which is usually pretty quick.  I did one through SbS yesterday, and it was approved before I had my gear packed up into my truck.  So to answer your question, most have a way for the end user to submit the info, but some will GPS map them themselves for a fee.

    • Day 312 - Better finishing position, fuller backswing, PRGR to see how swing speed was.
    • Going to a Friendsgiving tomorrow and I am bringing a no-bake cheesecake. I make the crust too big, but I think it turned out good. The filling is really good.
    • Sure, but how was your alignment? 🙂 Day 53 - 2024-11-22 Mirror work after getting back home. Wife is a superstar for her career/job/whatever.
    • I would say your back nine is the second nine you play that day. It's part of what makes getting some of those holes tougher. Or, if 18 holes are played pretty often, out of A, B, and C, and you often play A and C, A is the front and C is the back, regardless of the order you play them in. That way not birdieing C #7 isn't overcome by birdieing the easier A #7 on a day you played it C-A instead of A-C. But, at the end of the day, nobody really cares except yourself.
    • Day 128: played 9. Nice little even 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogeys.
