Currently I have 3 different "metal woods" in my bag.

A Ping driver

an Adams 3-wood

a Cobra 5 wood

I like them all, but they all feel a little different.

Does it make any sense for all of these to be the same?

Thanks.

If you hit them all well, you are already one step ahead of the game. Guage how you hit em, nothing else.

Rule of thumb: If you're a middle HDCP player, and have the $$, you may want to keep your FWs the same for consistency (and, transfer benefits during practice). Even among mid-H golfers, you see people with Driver X and FWs Y.

If you're near single-digit, you might want to vary the shafts/models to serve specific goals you have.

Look at What's In My Bag in GD. You find it both ways.

As Apoc says, let results guide your decision.

If you hit them well, I don't think it matters. Mine match, but I got them as a set. Just ordered new ones today, and they match as well. Most of the people that I know that have them matching, either got them as part of a set, or are really serious about golf. most of the recreational players I know don't really care if they match, as long as they can hit them well.

I have a Ping driver but I switch between a callaway and ping 3w because I hit them differently but both have advantages depending on the course. If you hit your 3w and 5w well I would stick with them until you find something you hit better but imo matching woods would be more mental.

They dont all need to be the same.  I dont even have the same shafts in my metalwoods.  My driver is a stiff and my 5-wood is a reg flex.  I like the reg flex in the 5-wood because it gives a higher launch, which helps on shots off of the deck.

What are your reasons for not carrying a 3 wood, TitleistWI?  I haven't got one and i'm not sure if i need to add one, and i'm interested why a low handicapper like yourself is choosing not to carry one.

I think that people get too caught up in piecing together a pretty set. I've never been too keen on being brand loyal, because there is so much good equipment out there.

That being said, I play a mix of woods.

Either a TM Superfast or a Ping G15 for driver

Cobra speed ld-f 3 and 5 wood

Sometimes I swap the 5 wood for an Adams super hybrid

And I use a Cleveland mashie 4H

One of my golfing buddies has a regular driver, an offset 3W and a regular 3 and 4 hybrid. He can't figure out why he's all over the place. I've told him they all either need to be offset or all standard. I guess you could get away with playing an offset driver...

Different models are perfectly fine.  I like a deeper faced 3 wood and a shallow faced 5 wood.  Mainly because I hit the 3 wood off the tee more and the 3 wood off the deck.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
