Hello folks

Just thought Id pose this question before I hit the practise range and make a clown of myself,

not having played for 30 years...long story...

Ive just started playing again, Im in my 60s and have a weak shoulder turn and hip turn

which causes about a three quarter swing and at the top, this causes my club to point

straight up, and then come down in an outside in arc.

In an attempt to gain consistency, Ive thought about adopting Greg Normans ball position

for all shots off the left heel, and in so doing am hitting all my shots straight left (irons

at the moment only) I have a very good grip and posture.

Im also considering splaying both feet towards the target (Im a righthander) and maintaining

a target line through my shoulders and hips pointing slightly left and my toe line point at the

target. Im hoping this will give me an inside out arc having lined up with a clubface square

to the target line.

Bit long winded, but anyone got any thoughts...atm Ive tried everything but my ball flight

is still straight left..

Cheers all

Ball flight is straight left because that is where the club face is aimed at impact.  Check this out

Thanks for your response and your welcome to the forum. Ive been to the range today and have quickly adopted a more conservative stance and ball position. Im hitting the ball much straighter now..the pushes

to the left have almost gone, and I seem to be able to hit a fade or a draw whenever I want...I now have to start working on my woods...or metals as they are now called...I wont have to practise my putting as

I can sink them blindfolded...cheers to all..

I had this come on and it took someone telling me I was doing it to correct it. I was stymied on why I kept pulling the ball.

Gday folks

Old geezer reporting for duty....

Just thought Id check with the low markers on my pitching technique.

I stand 45 degrees to my line of flight with my feet parallel and about 6 inches apart at the

toe line and play the ball of the centre (perpendicular centre) use a slight forward

press and try to keep weight on left foot and hands in front of the ball....the clubface during the backswing is kept square and my right elbow is virtually at my right side all the time....

The results are good...just wondering how others play their short game...I feel

its probably the simplest thing in golf chipping and pitching....(i.e. Im referrring

to 15/20 metre shots...any long and its a bit of a raffle for me)

Cheers all and good golfing...

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
