When I am trying to work the ball left or right I often end up with end straight shots at the path of where my feet are pointed instead of ending up where the club face is pointed. Those of you that instruct, where am I breaking down? I do get a good fade but rarely get the draw to work. I have a natural fade swing so I assume that drawing the ball for me would be more difficult. I don't know if I am mentally turning the club head back to flush or what.... Ideas?

Do you mean you are getting pushes when trying for a draw and pulls when trying for a fade?

My guess would be that your brain is subconsciously squaring the club-face to your path as opposed to returning it to wherever it was pointed at address.

Just my guess.

If you want a playable draw, the ball has to start right of the target and draw from there. Vice versa for a playable fade (both for righties).

If you're playing a draw I don't care if it's a push-draw, a straight-draw, or a pull-draw, so long as the clubface is right of the target and the path is farther right of that.

I don't know if that answers your question, but it's the only "technique" there is because anything else wouldn't make sense or would be impossible per physics.

What I have learned is to set up with the club face pointing at the target and your feet pointing in the direction you want the ball to start. Somehow my actual swing will not produce the draw and intermittently produces a fade.

Yeah, that's not the way it works. The great players who say they do that aren't actually doing that at impact (face at the target, path of the club along the starting line).

You're swinging more to left field than to right field. I prefer (though I can teach whatever) neutral alignments - feet parallel left - and a path that's just slightly more right than the face. A push draw (if that's what the player wants to hit).
