The Beachcomber is the name of my favorite bar on Cape Cod. It sits high on a dune above the nice beach.  They occasionally see Great White sharks there.  Recommend it to anyone visiting the outer cape in Wellfleet.

Back on topic.  I guess they had 100 degree heat and nasty humidity on day one.  Yesterday was better.  Creamer is doing OK but missing putts.  Yani is no where to be seen.  Is she playing?

beachcombers was one of my favourite tv shows as a child, lol.

My wife and I took my grade school daughter out to Blackwolf Run for the final round and had a great time - it was awesome how close we could get to the players and the several I watched come off the 18th green were very accommodating with autographs.  In the future, I would definitely see any other LPGA events within a reasonable drive and if I had to choose between competing PGA and LPGA events on the same weekend, I would actually pick the LPGA event.

The crowds in Kohler were no better than moderate in size - less than half the people that were at Whistling Straits for the Wednesday practice round for the PGA Championship back in 2004.  I really expected a lot more fans would be there.  I guess that says something about the LPGA Tour.

Sjs3, probably the biggest problem with women's athletics, regardless of the particular sport, isn't lack of respect from men.  A bigger problem is lack of interest by women.  If it's not figure skating, gymnastics, or the Olympics, most women don't pay any attention to spectator sports, whether the athletes are men or women.  The average American adult female is probably five to ten times more likely to want to watch some utterly vapid reality TV show than any sort of sporting event that isn't gymnastics or skating.  I saw a lot of couples at the US Women's Open, many with kids.  I observed quite a few families there with only a single parent, and most of the time it was the dad, not the mom, bringing the kids there.  And I saw a lot of college-age guys there and quite a few other men there with friends, but relatively few women there with other women to watch the golf.  If women want their sports to become more popular and respected, they need to step up and start watching female athletes themselves, not sit back and whine about inequality or chauvinistic attitudes.

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
    • StuM,  I have, in the past, added a left handed club. (Ususally a 7 iron) However, I usually take a stroke penalty and move the ball to where I want it.  I play for fun and in a pinch can use theback side if my club if I don't want the penalty stroke.    RetiredOldMan,  Terry
