There is actually two decent clubs near my house who don't take reservations. First come first served.

Hope you all can atleast sneak 9 in!

Tee time at 2:30. It's a blazer out there today. High 94, and pretty muggy. Gonna hit 9 and see what happens - may hit 18 if I feel good, but that's pretty unlikely.

My family knows that Father's Day means Dad is in the lazy boy watching the final round of the Open; I'm on the west coast, so a quick nine after dinner is in order. I also had my 5 year old son at the course today for a "Junior-Junior" clinic. They give them 4 lessons over four weeks and it's just for the real young ones. My first Father's Day with my son at the golf course, and I hope there will be many more in the future.

I squeezed out 18 holes today. It was blazing hot, and it took 6 friggen' hours. But, we got it done. I shot an 89, and my father shot an 84, the best he's shot in about 20 years. I introduced him to "good balls" for the first time today, Titleist NXT's and Pro V1's. I don't think I have him convinced, he still likes his featheries and scuffies, but still, he completely kicked my ass today, which usually doesn't happen anymore.

I busted his balls today, though. He would leave a 20 foot putt eight feet short and I was like "Wait, you got 10 seconds to see if it drops."

  • 3 years later...

This year is my first as a father and my wife took me out to dinner - yay. She also made a card for me.

Les is a guy who I play with who throws clubs and swears. I play with him less frequently these days.

Cliff is a guy I play with who always has some excuse why we should play a course near his house and never one near mine.

Tiger is, well, Tiger.

The goat is too long a story to get into...

Happy Father's Day to everyone!!!

Haha, the goat made me chuckle. I'm going golfing with my dad Tuesday, a bit late, but still. I haven't seen him in a while so I think it'll be a pretty special late father's day.

And a Happy Father's day to you, hope it was a good round. Alas, I have not much planned for today, She has to work every Sunday. But we're going to the Travelers in Cromwell Ct. on Tuesday. I know, before real play starts, but my GF has to be at a flower show for a few day's at the end of the week. So Tuesday is my only opportunity this year.

BUT, my present this year is two fold... I have tickets to see Michael McDonald in concert on Wed. night. I'm leaving work at 11 am that day and then I will be taking my son (22) and GF out to play 9 before dinner and the show. This will be my sons first time out on a course.

A few weeks ago, my boy got some bad news and I told him he needed to hit some golf balls to clear his head. He'd never done that before. He's a lefty and I'm a righty, so it didn't go as well as it could have, with my clubs. Then by good fortune I got my hands on a set of lefty's and we went back to the park and hit some more soon after that. After hitting balls for about two hours, I asked him if his head felt a little "refreshed" and he said "Yes". That was a good day for both of us.

So we'll play some sort of best ball format and I'll let him play from the ladies Tee's with my GF, and hopefully he'll get hooked... Like Father, Like Son??? By the way, I really expect my GF to beat me... again.

Happy Father's day to all Sand Trapper's, time to go stuff the Crock Pot, or my dinner won't be ready in time.

Hey, Dad... I miss you...

~Tom

I ordered a Chicken and an Egg on the Internet, to find out which came first... I'll keep you posted!

Had a good round 39 on the front, had some bad luck on the back9 driving through three fairways into trouble (I was hitting driver really well, so stuck with it, when I should have hit hybrid) ended up with an 83. The Ecco Street Premiere shoes are very comfortable. Should have broken them in last night got some heel blisters.

I just got back from Dubsdread Golf Club in Orlando. Worked on my putting at the practice green. It is adjacent to the 9th green. I took this pic -

    • Day 132: did some mirror work while watching TV. Worked on backswing stuff primarily.
    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
