PGA Professionals talk about measuring their shots to the front of the green. Whats the advantage of doing this instead of measuring to the center of the green?

I would image it would be for knowing how far you need to carry to know what your ball will do when it lands.

Because the center of each green is debatable. The front isn't so much.

I don't know about the pros, but I want to know if I have enough club in my hand to reach the green if I don't catch all of it. How much margin of error do I have if I don't get the ball to the pin? How much room is there for the ball to release after it lands? etc.

They don't just talk about yardage to the front, they talk about yardage to where they want to land it and they talk about yardage to carry obstacles, like bunkers.
