I have a box of these foam critters I hit every once in a while. I find them to be some what accurate.

I also know that due to their lighter weight, if there is any breeze present, that breeze will effect them more than a regular ball. This makes it hard to distinguish between a well struct ball, or a slice/hook swing, ball impact.

I use them more indoors for chipping/pitching purposes.

Another item I use for limited flight practice are those "Birdy Ball" things. They look like a short  piece of 1"-1.5" inch pipe. The person who invented those critters has a great imagination.

They show spin shape pretty well.   I've always found their distance to be inaccurate on the short side, though.

I don't use them much anymore, but I found a product called 'almost golf' to be a good alternative to a real ball.

There are 2 kinds of foam balls that I know of. There's a soft airy kind that are useless and a more solid dimpled kind that are pretty good. While there's no direct correlation between club and distance hit (my driver and 5-iron shots go about the same) if you're slicing or hooking the ball you'll know it.

The Almost Golf balls are really good but you need a really large backyard.
