Best player yet to win a major? Big-time choker? What? What do you think of his final-round collapse. The course could have been had - nearly everyone else near the lead shot under par.

Erik J. Barzeski —  I knock a ball. It goes in a gopher hole. 🏌🏼‍♂️

It was just another Sunday on the PGA Tour. It seems like the leaders have come back to the field every week this year, albeit it was never a 6 shot lead in prior tournaments.

I really don't know if Sergio is the best player never to win a major, but he is sure close. And suprisingly, his putting wasn't where he gave the most shots back like usual, he was in trouble off the tee all day long it seemed. He actually made a few putts to keep him around -12 (the one at 16 comes to mind). But then again, he did make a poor stroke on the first playoff hole to go out at that point.

I guess he choked a little, but at least he didn't shoot an overpar round. At least the guys behind him (great golfers by the way) went low and shot 66.

Mixed reactions on this one..

Choked a little? Seems like I saw him chopping out from under trees, making poor decisions and gagging on putts. You don't have to shoot over par to choke. If you give up a 6 shot lead and other players in the field are dropping 66's, there is no other way to describe it!

Sergio needs to figure out if he is a playboy or a top 10 in the world golfer...

Deffinately not the best player to win a major. I do not enjoy watching Sergio a bit. Best player to win a major? I would go with some of the older guys probably. Actually my pick was on Mickelson for a while.

Bit of a choker I'd say but also a bit hard to tell..
Sergio should have won that..I would have bet on him to hang on and win but for some reason he didn't ...I don't think he played badly...Just felt a bit of final round nerves and couldn't pull it off...Much like the position Adam Scott was in in China but I'm so glad he won that
Just like Vijay said..,"When you're in front it's a bit harder because instead of trying to win you don't want to lose."

    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
    • Is that the current generation Gamer? Another old standby for a firm and inexpensive ball is Pinnacle.  There are two models, the Rush and the Soft, but I don’t know what compression they are.
    • Good advice, but according to DSG website it is a 45 compression ball. My current ball is the Top-flite Gamer at 70. 45 is too low for me to go.
    • The 3 piece Maxfli Trifli is 2 dozen for $35.  The Trifli does not feel as soft as the Maxfli Softfli, which is why I like it. Other options would be one of the Srixons, which have a buy 2 get 1 free offer.
    • I have been carrying a 7 wood more often this year.  It’s especially handy if you have a downhill lie to an uphill green.  It’s also handy if the rough on the course is deep.
