I am working on a swing change with a Pro.  I strengthened my grip which took it from weak to neutral.  I also am working on plane and path.  So far it has all been good.  My driver is short and it is killing my scores.  Hitting long clubs in is killing my GIR.

I am wondering about ball flight.  I play with a friend that appears to come way inside, his ball starts right and goes 2/3 of its ball flight before it starts to turn then it really turns.

My drives hit and backup a foot, not great for distance so I am working on a draw to try and get more distance.  My ball flight is starting right and immediately starting to curve left.  From experimentation I think that the more the club face is closed to the swing path the earlier it curves.  If the path is more in to out and the face is slightly closed to the path then you get the delayed draw.

I hope this makes sense, I need to get this consistent by the end of the season.

The ball starts where the face is pointed at impact and curves away from the path.  So if the ball is starting right, club face is aimed right, good for a draw, but curving immediately left.  The path could be too far out or you might be hitting it off the toe.

He's simply hitting the ball harder, so it's getting farther out there before you see it curving.

Based on where it lands I have to  agree with you.  Driver is killing my score.  I am short with the driver 210 ish and it leaves me a layup or a long iron into a lot of greens.  I am basically playing for bogy.  I have another lesson Friday with a good pro, he has straightend out my iron game to a large degree but the short driver is dragging me down.  In the beginning of the year I was longer 230-250 which is all I need but I think I was generating speed by being wristy.  Very inconsistent.
