Yes, I was a social worker for many years. I have almost worked in the private sector and owned a food and beverage business. I have degrees in business and social work. It is interesting that you are insinuating I am biased. You might consider that I have education and experience supporting my stance. You are the one who is ignorant and biased. You don't care about the truth. I am done. You can choose to educate yourself if you wish.

Well there you go. When you get beyond "almost", and can debate your position like my homey Zippy, without resorting to insults, jump back in.....

What socialism? Obamacare isn't socialism. It is conservative health care plan that leverages private industry.

Why I am not voting for Romney (and my vote is more of one against him than for Obama?

He is a repeat of Bush on the economy (tax cuts and no regulation).  Maybe it was just bad timing that the economy cratered in 2008 but I am not willing to risk it

He is also a guy that looks to europe and says austerity during a period of poor growth is a great idea.

And then turn around and says we need to spend more on the military for pretty much no reason. Yeah that is going to do wonders for out budget deficit

He is going to waste 710 billion that both Obama and Ryan (hey both parties agreed.) thought could be saved. Thats a lot of money

The uncertainty. I have a feeling Mitt's believes are close to my own if you go by his actions in Mass. But he has run away from all of those. Is that because of a change of heart or because of political expediency? Can he repeal Obama care? Is his tax plan serious or just an pandering attempt to gain votes? Will he really run up the deficit by doing it? And so on.

The ethics. I have yet to hear a decent reason why the 2009 tax returns have not been released. Other than taking the Swiss bank account amnesty, I have not heard of a reasonable explanation.

And finally business people have been poor presidents in the past. The skill sets don't match up very well.

My only real reason for voting for Obama is that he has made me a ton of money. Look how much your s&P; 500 funds have gone up between 2000-2008 and 2008-2012. I like having a president that is good for business rather than one that SAYS they are. Call me results oriented.

I'm not a fan of Romney for many of the reasons you cite, but I have to vote for him.  I can't  in good conscience give Obama another four years to ruin this country.  Not to worry though, I live in NY, the welfare capital of the world, no way with all the Obama supporters here my vote will make any difference.

I do find one thing you stated interesting.  Why do you expect Romney to disclose his tax returns but don't expect Obama to disclose a valid long form birth certificate?

That ship has sailed. He's the President. Now the issue is whether his socialist policies should be supported with reelection or not. I hope and pray not.

I agree, just think it's funny all the anti-Romney people are whining that he won't disclose his tax returns but none demanded Obama show his long form birth certificate four years ago.

How many cadidates can you name that showed their long firm birth certificate? I can only think of one that released it and the release did nothing to stop the conspiracy theories. How many didn't release 5+ years of tax returns? Again I can think of only 1.  Besides Romney's thinks his 2011 returns disqualify him. I am not voting for a guy that overpays his taxes by 500k. That is just a sign of poor financial planning (or cynism if you think he will just file an amended return in 6 months to get the money back if he loses).

And lets say Barack was born in Kenya.  He is still likely to be eligible to be president. Most legal scholars thought Mexican born George Romney (and there was zero debate that he was born in mexico) was eligible.

So true, basically in theory two newspapers would have to conspire to print fake birth announcements under the possibility that a half black baby would be president less than 40 years later back in 1961!!!This of course was prior to the civil rights act of 1964 lol.

Anyone who, four years since he was elected, is still bringing up his birth certificate, shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Alas, we allow ignorant people to vote. We just don't allow people without a government-issued ID to vote.

But hey, keep it up. If you eventually keep repeating a lie maybe enough people will believe it. Couple that with efforts to disenfranchise millions of people, mainly minorities, from voting, and maybe Romney has a chance.

No one one this forum has said that there's any validity to the birther silliness. Read the posts and you'll see that.

Except the poster that brought it up.

At any rate, posters in this thread notwithstanding, it's nonsense talk & a prime example of what this president has to deal with.

My point remains.

aaaaarrrggg.  You are a moron.  Stop repeating this lie.

I should have stopped reading when you claimed that a flat tax was a "fair" system, ignorant comments like that just demonstrate your willful dishonesty.  But this is just stupid.  Stop embarrassing yourself.

Now here's the test.  Will David in FL actually read the article then come back and say that he was wrong?  How do you create a poll?

My guess is, derp de derp...

okay, um. okay.  I think we need some sort of referee here.  Debates like this are fine, but you can't just not play by the rules.  Your above quote is not an argument.  It is a fallacy... one of the, um, most basic ones.  For your sake, I hope you don't make arguments like this in public where people can actually see your face. Wow this is embarrassing.

Win.

...sort of.  They should be allowed to vote, but they should also be publicly humiliated and ridiculed because they are racist, ignorant, bigots.

The hilarious thing about the Birthers is a) They actually believe what they're purporting, and b) That they can make rational people believe it.

I have no doubt about a. But b ain't happening.

And here's the point. Catering to the fringe, like many Republicans do, will win you nothing. 20% of the vote will lose every election. So that's the fatal flaw to their strategy. Rather than trying to cater to 'rational' people they instead throw red meat at their base. Case in point, Romney's "Nobody has ever asked to see my birth certificate" comment at a rally a couple of weeks back. Nice line, gets the base energized, but they are going to vote for you anyway, dumbass . What are you doing to get rational people to vote for you? Stating you're not Obama? Well that's a losing strategy too, given that 53% of the country voted for him in 2008 & you're down a significant amount in the various battlegroud states.

No, it's time for desperate measures, Mitt. You now have to say what exactly you will do without references to birth certificates, intimations of socialism or how the country cannot afford 4 more years of Obama. We have to hear what you will do.

And the crickets will chirp.
