I hate to tell them, but it ain't the club that's unreliable. Personally, I like playing a more lofted club because you have to accelerate through it. I think a lot of amateurs struggle with their short game because they have the tendency to decelerate into the ball. I think you're more likely to do this with a lower lofted club.

I would not want to game without my 60. It is the go to club.

I would probably lose somewhere in the neighborhood of 2-4 strokes per round without mine.

To the OP, I'd definitely say gap wedge. For 110 yards in, mine gets lots of play and a club I wouldn't want to play without. Lots of interesting stuff on club choices in this thread. I gotta agree I like to keep the ball on the ground whenever possible, but like to hit low running chips with my PW or 9 iron at most. Any lower lofted club than that, distance control is tough for me. I've played with a few people who've bagged a chipper, might be worth a try but I don't know what I'd take out of the bag to make room for it:~(

In my Sun Mountain 14 Way Stand Bag:

Driver - Ping G30 10.5* : Fairway - Ping G30 18* : Hybrids - Titleist 915H 21* & 915 H 24* : Irons - Mizuno JPX 850 Forged 5 - GW : Wedges, Vokey 54.14, Vokey 58.12 : Putter - Scotty Cameron Studio Select Newport 2 or Ping Craz-E-R  : Ball - Bridgestone B330RX, Cart - Cliqgear 3.5

For a "chip" I'd likely go 9-iron or 54,
