Cheers

If you are the typical 31 hc, I would take out the 3 wood and 3 rescue - they will be the most difficult clubs to hit consistently well. When you've improved, evaluate them and put them in the bag if you desire.

I would advise a 5 wood as your longest fairway and at 42 inches in length, and then add a 5 hybrid, which will typically be longer by a club than your traditional 5i. Make sure the 5H, if you go that route, is only slightly longer than your 5i. Club manufacturers have a tendency to make shaft lengths too long - that makes the club more difficult to hit well consistently and with control.

Good luck.

A better swing, seriously tech can't make the golf swing. I remember the old commercials, "Garaunteed not to slice" Yea right, put that club in my hands i can slice it ;p

Tech can enhance your game, fine tune your game, but its not going to get you significantly better. If you fine tune your equipment, i would say it will only get you about 3 strokes over 18 holes. That's what i felt.

For any handicapper, i would get fitted for a driver, if you can pick up 1 club length in distance, then your hitting a shorter club into the green = more green's in reg. There's a reason why bubba leads the tour in GIR's, he hits short irons nearly on every shot.

Then the second thing would be get fitted for a putter, there's a reason it makes up 35-45% of all shots in a golf round, no single club matches that. The reason i say get fitted, it boost confidence. I know a guy who putts with a 30+ year old bulls eye putter, and he is one of the best putter's i have seen, it fits him perfectly, he's played it for years. These guys that switch putter's yearly, your never going to gain consistancy that way. Consistancy builds confidence. Believe me, when you know your going to make a putt, you make a lot more of them. There are times when i stand over a putt, and i just get this gut feeling its going in. Believe me, there 15-20', and i don't miss them. Its just a great feeling, and confidence booster.

Other than that, work on your swing. Iron's haven't changed much in the past 30 years since parimeter weighting. The only thing your really buying is feel versus forgiveness, and fitting through shaft selection. Other than that, you can buy 10 year old irons and still get nearly the same performance. You think your gaining yards, but check the loft on the clubs to there iron labeling, irons now are stronger in loft, so they get you that way.

Well I had another lesson, and I find my old clubs are ok , but, I purchased 3 Taylor made 11r's clubs and I hit them very well., it might be all in my mind but guess what, they are a lot straighter and feel heaps more comfortable, and oh yea, the lesson put me back on track, dropped 15 shots after a week, so I hope I can keep it up
