The definition of insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again expecting a different result. Words to that effect. Maybe you have got to this point because you have mentally got into a pattern of physical and emotional behaviour with your golf. You can quit for a while and this can work as you get rid of the torture of it and come back refreshed or you can stop what you're doing and change your golfing habits. Change the way you practice, the way you play the course, decide to accept your current level of play and decide to approach it without anger or frustration. My guess would be this is a mental thing which is translating itself to your mechanics. Don't know if you've read any Rotella books but I highly recommend Golf is a game not perfect.

I have known someone who packed (to donate, sell, throw out) his golf gears after a bad weekend round.   2 - 3 weeks later, he'd unpack it and play again.  He'd do this 4 - 5 times a year.

I started playing golf this year.  I thought I was progressing well since I broke century mark a couple times.  Then past weekend I shot +30.... in 9 holes. :yucky: Posted 9 in one of par 3 after losing 3 balls and 11 in one of par 5 after losing another 2 balls along with 4 putts.  It's humbling.  Back home I had to tell wife I enjoyed the game thoroughly for next opportunity to go out.

You are at fun part of your golf career when you can improve your score almost every month.  I have been playing for 4 years and I still get 9s and 10s occasionally.   Keep playing and have fun (away from your wife  ).

I dont get why people lose their mind over golf. Its not like you lost anything..maybe i can understand if you play for money or in a tournament. I can see myself getting frustrated there i guess.

I seriously hate it when other people play bad and they let it ruin their whole mood. No fun playing with those people, although i feel for them its just not very nice to be around.

Not to sound like an arse, but its a serious character flaw, work on it.

I know it's a problem, however it only really happens when I'm playing by myself and don't have anyone to help keep my mind off of the bad shots. I put pressure on myself to be good at anything I do and if I'm alone when playing I ruminate on the bad shots which will put me in a foul mood sometimes. I've been getting better lately and bounce back a lot quicker than I used to because I am forcing myself to focus on the good shots instead of the bad.

Saw a guy in front of my group throwing a club violently after a bad shot.   I believe the whole mood changed for the group afterward.   Before, they were finding lost ball together, chattering about next shot, etc..  After the club throwing, they went into marching mode.    This is why I appreciate a playing partner with sense of humor.

    • Day 48. Got out at lunch to the range to hit some driver shots. Haven’t had much practice there. Focused on setup suggested by @iacas and found some very playable results. I did try to hit a couple of bunker shots after that with much less success 🙃
    • Got a rare birdie on #18 Par 5.  Drive was good and left me in range of the green.  I was @ 210 from the center and needed @ 180 to clear a hazard area.  Green had bunkers lest, right and on back. had been struggling and most shots were short so I took the 225 club figuring back of green hit well. i did hit it well, @ 229 per SS and dead on—kind at the pin.  Ended up @ 1 foot off the back in short rough and lucky for me it was a back pin placement.  Chipped about 15 feet leaving a 3 feet putt for par which I sunk.
    • Yea, so to clarify for me. I do not feel the clubface much in the swing. I feel the weight of the club. I can feel if I hit the club off the heel or toe. When I try to feel if the clubface is open or closed in the swing, I feel it more with my hands, and less of the clubhead. I would classify majority of my swings as not feeling like the clubface does much of all. It feels like I hold the clubface open. In the finish, it doesn't feel like my left hand faces the ground. It feels more like it faces the sky. I will try to be more aware of this, but it was just the sensation I got when I was making what felt like good swings. For the most part, I was hitting slight draws or slight pushes.  On this golf trip, I had to hit a low 8 iron around a tree to the green. I made an alignment adjustment, and actively try to roll my hands a bit more to get it to sling around the corner. I do have a habit of not adjusting how the clubface comes through impact, and I can still hit the ball straight-ish even moving the ball way back in my stance and trying to swing out more.  Yea, my feels are more hands and arms, less actually feeling the clubface.
    • That truly had me laughing. Thanks If anyone is interested Sun Day Red is live. I clicked on the hats, seem they are sold out. Shorts 130 bucks, shirts 120, everything seems to be sold out already, at least from what I clicked on. 130 for shorts, I'll pass.
