I have noticed that since Jan 2013 my HC Index show the letter M next to it, so now it reads 11.1M. Can anyone tell me what the M means please?

That happened at my club because one of the members was posting a lot of scores from outside courses and no one was verifying what he was shooting and his handicap was going up quickly.  Not sure what the ramifications are for having the "M" there though. Do you not get to play in tournaments?

See 8-3 of the USGA Handicap Manual for details.   By the way, the Handicap Committee is required to notify you prior to modifying your handicap to gain your explanation of something they have determined to warrant modification.

this is sometimes what happens to sandbaggers..........The club pro had to modify your index down because your previous index wasn't accurate.   IE........you enter a tourney as a 13HC, but miraculously find a way to shoot very low "NET SCORES" whenever you enter a club tourney.

I have seen the *m* twice next to friends names.

For both of them it happened when they reestablished their GHIN handicap when rejoining the club.

Their old scores from 2 years ago popped up and they had the *m* during the first revision, after that it immediately went away.
