This is my first post here and i hope to get a lot of answers for the questions that i have. So i live in the North Eastern part of texas where i work for the next year and get to go back to Arizona. I found that the big brand demo days dont ever seem to make there way out here and i am trying to find a new golf ball. I have been using the nike 20XI-S and tried to move to the 20XI-X to cut the spin out of it. I am one of the few players out there that are left handed, and while it is hard to get clubs i dont want to make it hard to find a new golf ball. I am looking for something with great penetrating distance with low spin. If it helps my swing speed is right around 104-109 depending on the day. I see there are a lot of new golf balls out for 2013 so i hope someone can help me out. sorry to be so long but definately just wanted to get this out of the way.

Where at in Texas are you at? I'm from Childress which is north east, and I'm only an hour away from there still. I game the callaway hex black and occasionally pinnacle golds. I can't tell a huge difference with some balls except the really soft ones. I hate those for short game.

Normally I get the Pro-V1x practice balls or X-outs, but I am thinking of giving the 20XI's a try, for the S versions do they have a lot of side spin off the drivers? Or just a lot of spin off the wedges and irons? I'll get a box and let you know how the Pro V1's compare.

What I usually do is just buy a sleeve at the course if they have good deals, and if you like the ball you can get a dozen.

I am in texarkana and i play the hank haney golf ranch here. Really nutty course, but really fun. I had recently gone to my local golf shop and hit some practice balls with a different shaft, fujikura motore f1 which is just ordered for my 10.5 callaway x hot driver. i realized that my data was not as on as i assumed that it was, because my swing speed is 110-115 and i drive the ball straight and 280-290 yrds, so the ball that i would want would be something with low spin and mid-high ball flight. have you ever expiremented with the bridgestone e7? the guys i spoke with from bridgestone recomended it.

The 20XI-S have a lot of spin all around. if you are looking for a ball that will not stop rolling when it hits the fairway as well as incredible amounts of spin around the greens then that is your ball. I have a friend that hits really high and has about 500 side spin and he threw the ball at me when he found it because it made his drive a 100 times worse, didnt know he had a lot of spin. I appologize for not getting back sooner. Internet went out.

I like the titleist nxt tour. Travels well and not as as much back spin as the pro v. I don't worry so much about distance as how it reacts to the green. A short chip with a pro v will check, hit it harder and it will check more, you end up with the same distance, meaning to control the ball you have to get all fancy with the face of the club. It get more complicated, at this point I'm trying to keep it simple.

I've been playing the TP3 lately (just cause I'm trying a bunch of different ones out and they were on sale) and so far I really like it.  It's noticeably less spinny on the greens (I don't ever back up a ball on the greens with these, but then again how often do I really need to do that?) but its plenty soft enough off the putter and I really have no qualms at all.  I also did just buy a box of TP5, also cuz they were on sale .. haven't had a chance to play them yet. :)

isnt the TP3 slightly softer than the TP5? I have to retry the Lethal balls, my shaft is now not stiff enough for my swing and it is flexing way to much on the down swing. Should get good in a couple of days when my white board shaft gets here.

    • I was having a decent round (no doubles is a decent rough these days) when I got to eight and hit a drive that looked like it was going into a fairway bunker. I wish it had because, when I got to the ball, it was hanging on the edge of the bunker and I had no stance. I got into the bunker and just tried to baseball swing a wedge to advance it a little but I bounced it about ten yards into deep rough. I still had 185 to the green and envisioned my first double (at best). Probably should have taken my medicine with a wedge, but I pulled my 25 degree hybrid instead. I made good contact with a lot of topspin and it tumbled and rolled all the way to the green where I was able to two putt for a bogie to keep my "decent round" intact. 😎
    • I am in the same boat, a lefty who has played righthanded all my life because my Dad cut down some of his clubs when I was a kid to hit in the back yard. I am completely lefthanded except for golf, baseball and hockey. It took me years to engage my right side in the swing, but I had a killer backhand in tennis. I tried out playing lefty about thirty years ago, but it was very daunting. Length is enticing, and I could hit it farther lefthanded but it went all over the place. I only gave it about a month before I stopped and I should have given it more time because I think it could have worked out, but I was a decent righty at the time (around a 7 index) and wasn't willing to put in the time. I never had a lot of length, but I could keep the ball in front of me and there is something to say about being in the short grass. Good luck. Hit 'em straight!

    • Although the base rules don't make this really clear, the Player must have decided to use Unplayable Ball relief before lifting the ball.  This exact situation is discussed in the Committee Procedures section of the Rules, section 6C(8).  Section 6C addresses how to rule when a Player proceeds under a Rule that does not apply.  Note that 9.4 applies, 9.4 deals with a player moving his ball when no rule allows it.   Rule 9.4 penalizes the Player for lifting his ball when not permitted by the Rules, and requires him to replace it.  Since he dropped and played from a different place, the Wrong Place penalty applies.  As for a serious breach, that would only apply if the Wrong Place gave him a really significant advantage.  Since he could have taken Unplayable Ball relief in essentially the same spot, for just 1 penalty stroke, the Wrong Place penalty of 2 strokes is enough "punishment", there's no need to consider a DQ.
