Any recommendations on a rangefinder in the 150 to 200 dollar range. pros, cons experiences with them. Thanks

I have the Callaway LR550 rangefinder and I love mine.  It is only $200.  Ive used mine for about a year, it holds up well.  Its all waterproof so you can use it in the rain, thats nice.

I was looking at that one, it looks nice. I haven't heard any one complain about it yet. It between that and the v2

My buddy has the Laser Link Red Hot Rangefinder.  I used it last year while on a golf trip with him.  I liked it a lot!  I didn't like the $300 price tag.  I looked at golf galaxy and golfsmith and it's on sale for $250 now.  I like it because you can shoot objects up to 400 yards away, you don't the the targets on the flag stick.  I'm 90% sure I'm going to pull the trigger on this for this season.

I have a Calloway, Diablo Octane by Nikon. It's great! Waterproof, no complaints. Works to 550 Yds. on any surface. Saw it at Rock Bottom Golf for $250 with Free Shipping.

But I got it with my Company rewards points for 25 Years of service. Cost to me out of pocket... Nothing! Just 25 years of indigestion, aggravation, etc. &

I ordered a Chicken and an Egg on the Internet, to find out which came first... I'll keep you posted!

Yeah, the Callaways are basically all the same no matter the model.  And you can shoot up to 550 yds.

+1 on the Nikon LR550. I got mine about 2 1/2 years ago and haven't had a single problem with it. I has good range, picks up the target and locks on really fast. I got mine for $150 (new) when TGW was having a sale. The only "modification" I made was putting a small piece of Gorilla tape over the battery cover to keep it secured, as others said they had the battery cover come off unexpectedly.

Mine has a yellow cover, which saved me from leaving it in the cart on a few occasions.

I have found it to be excellent and highly recommend.

I was in the market for a rangefinder until I stumbled on this: http://onthegreen.weebly.com/gps-and-rangefinders.html page. After reading this, I decided I needed one of each, a gps and a rangefinder. I like the gps because it will give me a layout of the hole with water hazards, sand bunkers, OB, etc. and the yardages away. The rangefinder would be good if I could see the green but the courses I play, often have blind tee shots. They also have the Laser Link Red Hot unit for $219 and the lesser model for $139. For $300, I think I can buy one of each and be set.

I ended up going with the callaway razr. Can't wait to use it. The courses around here are just opening now after a long snowy winter. Played my first round yesterday don't really want to talk about that LOL. Hopefully this can help me knock a couple strokes off my rounds.

Yeah, it is a great investment.

I have the "Golf Buddy"

Clips on your hat, audio talks to you.

Press the button and it gives you the yardage from front center or back of green. It's rechargable and about $125.00 on Amazon.

I love it as I don't have to take time lifting and sighting a target. Just pull up to your ball and press the button. Every course in the U.S. is recognized and included.

That'd sounds pretty nice. Bu I like to know what the yardage is to carry hazards as well.

  • 2 weeks later...
i have the gps watch. it gives me all the readings and i don't have anything to carry and put away. it stays on my right wrist when i play. instant yardage on command.
