I been using the cheap two piece balls but now I upgraded to PROv1 X. which is about $3 or more per ball. Last 7 rounds I used7 balls. Should I just go back to using cheap stuff? 3$ per round sounds expensive.

feels more solid, more spin, more yardage, feels better in putting too. I don't really want to go back now that I tried using prov1x for couple rounds but the PRICE is 3x more expensive. My old ball was $1 the prov1x is $3.

You know I played proV1s yesterday vs. NXT Tour that I was playing earlier.

I found that ball did get me more distance (on clean well struck shots), better "bites" on the greens, etc. This is the first time I thought the ball was making such a difference. I'm going to stick to ProV1s for a bit as long as I have some in my bag and see if my general play improves at all over a longer period of time.

Luckily I get my proV1s for free on the rail road tracks parallel to a Trump National par 5 haha.

I see a lot of people that don't have nearly enough club head speed to be using a Pro V1, and there are plenty of really good lower compression balls on the market that would be better for them (and cheaper), but they want to play with what the better players are playing. SMH

Of course they do the same thing with golf clubs and shafts too. SMH again!!!

Maybe they figure they can at least look like those better golfers.

I know one guy with about 90 mph club head speed that went and bought an identical driver to the longest hitter at our course that probably has 30 mph more club head speed. When he couldn't hit it and I asked him why he bought it he said that "Shane hits his so well that I thought it was a good club". SMH a third time!!!!

Well if you believe Titliests marketing anyone can play the Pro V1 these days.

Secondly, get them off eBay and you will end up paying cents on the dollar for balls of decent quality.

Yep..."If you believe" them.

BTW I play with Pro V1s except when it is cold. Then I get a little more distance out of something like a DT SoLo.

I also don't have too much pride to pull out an old ball when I play our hole that has the island green (except in the money games). My son says that puts negative thoughts in my mind. Could be but at least it doesn't put a new ball in the water.

    • I honestly believe if they play longer tees by 300-400 yards, closer to or over 7,000 yards, more rough, tougher greens, women's golf will become much more gripping.  BTW, if it weren't for Scottie killing it right now, men's golf isn't exactly compelling.
    • Day 542, April 26, 2024 A lesson no-show, no-called (he had the wrong time even though the last text was confirming the time… 😛), so I used 45 minutes or so of that time to get some good work in.
    • Yeah, that. It stands out… because it's so rare. And interest in Caitlin Clark will likely result in a very small bump to the WNBA or something… and then it will go back down to very low viewership numbers. Like it's always had. A small portion, yep. It doesn't help that she lost, either. Girls often don't even want to watch women playing sports. My daughter golfs… I watch more LPGA Tour golf than she does, and it's not even close. I watch more LPGA Tour golf than PGA Tour golf, even. She watches very little of either. It's just the way it is. Yes, it's a bit of a vicious cycle, but… how do you break it? If you invest a ton of money into broadcasting an LPGA Tour event, the same coverage you'd spend on a men's event… you'll lose a ton of money. It'd take decades to build up the interest. Even with interest in the PGA Tour declining.
    • Oh yea, now I remember reading about you on TMZ!
