After nearly 20 years and approximately 15 bagillion strokes, I had my first hole-in-one Saturday. And I didn't even see it go in. 120 yd downhill over water, I hit gap wedge. It bounced about 7' short and rolled to the lip, where it stopped. It was a tournament so there were a lot of people on the tee box and everyone groaned when it stopped. I turned around in disgust, and of course that's when it dropped.

Fortunately it was a "closest to the pin" hole so I won a few hundred bucks so I about broke even on the bar tab. It was definitely cool having 15 or so people all see it happen. I felt like a real pro lol.

Congrats, reminds me of that guy who was qualifying for the US open at Olympic, were the putt came up on the lip short. He turns away and it drops.

I heard a story the other day while playing.  A guy I was playing with hit his first hole in one on a closest to the pin hole, he marks it, puts it right next to the hole and writes on the distance thing "hole in one"

He goes back to the course the next day to collect his prize and the guy says, you didn't win.  He asks why and the kid behind the counter says, your name isn't the last one on the list.

So he speculated what happened was one of the groups after saw that it was a hole in one, and removed the thing from the course, and placed it on the side of the green.  A group after that must have thought, oh nobody is on the green yet, and put it on, wrote his name below and was oblivious to the fact that somebody had a hole in one.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
